July Memories

It's the last day of the month which means it is time to recap what we have done in this month.

The coverage of the fashion weeks are definitely one of the major highlights of this month but still, in our original content department, we still mange to pull out some fresh and great features for you. First off, we have a feature on Candy and Caviar, a brand that we fall in love recently. Another fashion designer we have featured in this month is Ada Zanditon (we have been hoping to do this feature for so long and finally the dream has become reality!).

If you like graphics, we also have a great feature on Artur Hilger. He is the person who creates the Intel Robots campaign and we believe you must read this feature if you have not had a chance to see it yet.

As for our photography department, this month we are showcasing two spreads: one is for the Sleeping Giant Gallery Collection and the other one is the shoot we have done for Shop My Clothes for MTV Fora Magazine! We have a lot of fun doing these 2 shoots and we hope you enjoy the photos!

Last but not least, the I Scream Award 2010 is a great success to us and we thank you to all the people whom have nominated their favorite people in Toronto to us. We should release the list very soon.

More to come in August, stay tune!

Ray of Inspirology: Daria Webowy for H&M Pre-Fall Look Book

Photos for H&M pre-fall campaign is in and my eyes are fixed on Daria Webowy's set. I have to say she looks fresh and great here. The simple white background makes her stand out from this campaign and now I am hoping to see more from her. No words on who the photographer is yet, so I will keep you posted when I know the answer.

Trendology: Stussy XXX x Clarks Originals Desert Boots

It's the 30th anniversary for Stussy and after collaborating with Timberland for the special Stussy XXX line, now their next target is Clarks Original.

I have alway been wanting to have a pair of desert boots from Clarks but for some reasons none of them I see on the street suit my appetite. This one, however, is exactly what I am looking for! I love the material, the shape and color and again, I love collaboration product! This pair of desert shoes will be on sale in Japan roughly around beginning of August. If you need more information, you can click here (all Japanese, so be prepared for that).

Ray of Inspirology: Messe Noire

The spreads in the latest issue of Numéro are capturing my heart at the moment.

This editorial is shot by Sebastian Kim featuring the just married model Miranda Kerr. The setting is one of the elements I like in this spread and oddly enough , I almost cannot recognize Miranda in some of the photos. I love how Sebastian desaturates some of the photos to give a vintage vibe and also that starburst photo is well executed! This is definitely a very inspiring shoot for photographers.

Ray of Inspirology: The Woman

I love this editorial concept!

In the latest issue of UK Elle, Matthias Vriens McGrath has shot an editorial featuring Ali Stephens. In this spread, Ali wears different F/W pieces from different fashion houses and each outfit represents a type of woman character in the world. I find this concept to be interesting especially having just 1 model showcasing all the F/W fashion in a spread is rare. The shoot is very simple and clean and I love the outcome of it.

Now, get ready for F/W fashion!

Graphicology: Boys Of The Future

I love fashion and I love illustration so when I see this on Behance, my heart just skips a beat.

This illustration series is drawn by Spiros Halaris. In here, he has recreated all the best looks from the menswear S/S 2011 collection onto paper with ink and paint. They all look stunning to me but if I have to choose my favorites, my eyes will be on the Prada and Alexander McQueen ones (I love the details on the pants). I am hoping I will be able to get a feature of him so I will get to know more about this great illustrator.

Ray of Inspirology: Jil Sander F/W 2010 Promotion Campaign

Less is more and this theory works for the Jil Sander F/W campaign.

Willy Vanderperre is once again appointed to be the photographer for this shoot and the cast of this campaign includes Kasia Struss, Miranda Kerr, Aiden Andrews. This campaign actually reminds me of the one Willy has done in one of the editorials for V Magazine but still, this one does not disappoint me at all. Out of the 3 photos, I am attracted to Miranda Kerr's one the most. I really love the composition, the lighting and the look of her face in the photo.

This is a perfect example of simplicity high fashion promotion campaign.

Trendology: Kitsuné S/S 2011 Collection

Ah, I love Parisian style silhouette!

Kitsuné, a brand based in Paris, has recently released the look book for their S/S 2010 collection and it does not fail to impress me. The collection is inspired by the movie The Passenger starring Jack Nicholson and I love the clean and simple cutting of the pieces. The pastel colors are making the collection so light and cheerful and my eyes are on the blue and white cardigan. This is a collection I would not mind to own all of the pieces in my wardrobe.

Here are my favorites and you can click here to see the complete collection.

Evolution: Shop My Clothes For MTV Fora

Some of you may know that we have done an interesting fashion shoot for Shop My Clothes back in April at Uncle Otis. A month later, some of the photos have shown up on MTV's Fora online magazine and we are very proud of the result. Originally we have done 2 outfits changes for 3 people and today we have decided to show you the rest of the shoot. Before that, we want to give credits to our lovely crew.

Models: Donnell Enns & Martin James @Uncle Otis; Jonathan Elias @Shop My Clothes
Makeup: Drea @Domenico & Drea
Hair: Antonio Tocci @Salon Tocci

Ray of Inspirology: Universal Coverage

It's not even the September issue but Vogue has already featured one of the best editorials for this F/W season already!

This outdoor shoot is done by Mr. Steven Meisel featuring some of the world's top models such as Christina Kruse, Sasha Pivovarova, Caroline Trentini, Daria Strokous and Mirte Maas. Marie-Amelie Sauve, the stylist, has skillfully transformed the girls into different characters in this dreamy spread. I love the color tone, the clothes, the models and the setting and these factors make my eyes happy when I look at the photos.

Funkology: Expresso Solo by Shmuel Linski

I cannot help myself from blogging this amazingly awesome concrete coffee machine!  It is designed by Shmuel Linski, a student from Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, for Lavazza. This machine is called Expresso Solo as it makes only expresso, with concrete frame and metal work.  The contrast between the very raw concrete and the fine polished metal came together as a perfect match.  This little coffee machine is really a miniature of architecture in your kitchen!

Trendology: Bottega Veneta F/W 2010 Sneakers

I love woven pattern on sneakers and I regret till this day, I still do not own a pair of woven pattern low top from Nike.

One of my favorite brands, Bottega Veneta has just released the photos of the F/W sneakers line up and yes, I see a low top in woven pattern and instantly it has become on my wish list! Other sneakers in this line up include leather high top and low top, slip-on in woven pattern and each pair comes in a few colors selection.

Hello Dream Shoes!

Ray of Inspirology: I'm No Angel

One stunning editorial!

This editorial is featured in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar US and the photographer is Jean-Paul Goude. In here, Laetitia Casta is portrayed as Mae West. Alex Aikiu, the stylist for this spread has put Laetitia into some fabulous couture dresses (such as Armani, Dior) which makes her so elegant and beautiful. What I like the most about this spread is the concept. It is so dreamy and doing a shoot for the haute couture pieces in this kind of setting is very appropriate. This is definitely a series you will not want to miss if you need dreamy inspiration.

Ray of Inspirology: On His Marc

Even though this spread has Deborah Ann Woll in it, but I just want to say, "Marc, you are looking great here!"

This editorial is photographed by Giampaolo Sgura and is featured in the latest issue of InStyle. All the clothes Deborah is wearing in this spread are by Marc Jacobs and I love them. Again, Marc looks amazing (even though he has only one shot) and at the same time Deborah looks very elegant with that tweed coat on. Overall, I think this is a very pleasant editorial for the eyes.

Trendology: Nicholas Kirkwood Electric Dot Oxford

I've been hunting for a perfect pair of oxford for the longest time.  I haven't come across one that I really love and would bring them home.  This pair by Nicholas Kirkwood is one that I would love to try and believe I will bring them home.  Remember the shoes that he specially designed for Alice in Wonderland? His brilliantness is moving onto the wearable piece. The leather is detailed with black and white dots, with rounded square toe and vamp.  The connection between the heel and the back of the ankle has this small inset which gives the shoe a very unique look. The shoe is available via Kirna Zabete for $318.

Trendology: Marc Jacobs Mouse Baby Booties

Marc Jacobs is going into the babies' world now! Other than providing ultra warmth and comfort for the baby, these Little Marc Jacobs certainly styled the baby as well! For those who do not have babies yet, why not just get a pair of these and use it as some cute and fun accessories? Or, who doesn't want their size to shrink, so they can fit into one of these!?

Ray of Inspirology: Gucci F/W 2010 Promotion Campaign

Last but not least, Gucci has finally released the promotion campaign for their F/W collection. Just like the pre-fall campaign, Mert and Marcus is behind the lens and Raquel Zimmermann and Nikola Jovanovic are the faces for this shoot. The big difference between this and the pre fall campaign is the addition of the gold chair (and no sight of Joan Smalls yet). As usual, I am in love with the photos I see in this campaign and I think the Gold chair actually works well with the models and the background. Now, I hope Gucci will continue this kind of artistic campaign instead of putting everyone in the same photo.

Bravo work!

Trendology: Shoe The Bear S/S 2011 Collection

It is a known fact that i have problems looking for the right pair of shoes in Toronto and the reasons are as follow: I need to find a pair of shoes that is comfortable to walk  and it has to be durable and fit my image. I have come across Shoe The Bear for a few times on Behance now and finally, the S/S 2011 collection has caught my eyes.

The reason I love this collection not only because of the color choice, but also the thin outsoles which let the feet have a more direct contact with the ground. The shoes are light so you shouldn't feel the weight much when you walk. Out all of the shoes, the two tone (brown/white) high top and the white/blue low top will have to be my favorites. Of course, the Bibi GHOST and Milk Contemporary are two collections I am looking forward to see too.

Now I just want a pair of the shoes and I don't know where I can find them in Toronto.

For the complete collection, please click here.

Ray of Inspirology: Twenty Something

Till this day, About A Boy is still one of my favorite movies of all times and watching Nicholas Hoult grows into a great actor is amazing. Oh, have I told you he is a great model too?

In the latest issue of W Korea, Paul Farrel has done an amazing editorial featuring Nicholas Hoult. Nicholas looks sexy and full of attitude in front of the camera. I also like the hard light on him in this spread to make him look bold and strong. Overall, I have no bad things to say about this series, it is amazing.

Funkology: Love Mi Vinyl designer Toy

As you know I am a big fan of Luv's illustration works and I am also a big fan of Sammi Cheng, so when I see this collaboration figure, my eyes cannot stop staring at it. This figure only comes in a limited production (1225 worldwide) and from the photos, the quality of the figure is amazing. I am loving the details and putting this figure on my desk will definitely cheer me up (thanks to that wicked smile). The price for it is $158USD and you can click here to order it.

I would love to get one really badly...

Trendology: Eleven's top 11 Canadian Designer Summer Steal Sale

Fashionistas in Toronto, this is for you!

It's the middle of summer and this means it is the season of summer sale! eleven Boutique, which is located at the heart of Yorkville, is having its summer steals sale right now. 11 Canadian designers' fashion items are marked 40-50% off their original price. With this special offer, I do not think you can find another deal like this within Toronto. Hurry up and head down to eleven Boutique before the items you want are run out of stock!

Location: 116 Cumberland St. Toronto, ON

Graphicology: B/S

If I don't share this amazing illustration art work with you, I will feel bad about it.

blindSALIDA's illustrator works on Behance have captured my heart and this B/S mini project is something that I want to talk about here. When I first look at the letters, I only see a bunch of objects making up each letter; however, when look at the pictures closer, each letter is actually made up of the objects that have either B or S as the first letter of the words. The letters look like as if they are injected with energy and ready to jump out from the paper. I am loving this concept!

Trendology: SoPopular S/S 2011 Collection

If I lived in Berlin, I would probably pay a visit to the SoPopular store (seems like Berlin's fashion is the perfect fit for me) to check out their collections.

Recently, SoPopular has released the look book for the S/S 2011 collection and clothes are like a breath of fresh air for me. The color palette includes lime green, lemon yellow and different shades of grey which gives a light and cheerful feeling to the collection. Most of the designs for the pieces are simple and clean but the yellow collection has has totally caught my eyes with the innovative designs. My eyes are focused on the yellow long coat with the elastic waist-band and the top with the diagonal buttons. These 2 pieces are fresh and you will definitely stand out from the crowd when you are able to buy them here.

Here are my favorites and you can view the rest of the collection here and here.

Ray of Inspirology: Aquascutum F/W 2010 Promotion Campaign

While I am still waiting for more photos from this campaign, I cannot resist of not talking about this particular photo from the set.

This campaign is shot by Willy Vanderperre featuring Karlie Kloss, Matt Benstead, Jacob Coupe and Tristan Knight. I like the background of the composition of this ad especially the "sky" is creating a mysterious mood for this campaign. Being the only girl in the campaign, for some reasons, Karlie is actually gives me a masculine feeling here. I am looking forward to see more photos from this series and hope they will live up to my expectation.

Trendology: On Aura Tout Vu F/W Haute Couture Collection 2010

If you think I have missed this Haute Couture show, you are wrong. All I am waiting is the good quality photos and now I have them!

During the Paris Haute Couture Week, On Aura Tout Vu has presented a dreamy collection with the undersea theme. The models are transformed into different sea creatures such as starfish, fish, rocks (no, not kidding) and sea fairy. Livia S. Stoianova, Yassen V. Samouilov have managed to blend the creative elements into these elegant fashion pieces and I think this is truly a one of a kind collection. My favorites will be white to blue gradient coat, the fish scale dress and also the jelly fish shape one piece dress.

I know that Lady Gaga has bought some of the pieces from this collection, so expect to see more of this collection in the public eyes in the near future.

Thanks for the press team for these amazing photos! Here are my favorites and you can see the runway video after the jump!

Ray of Inspirology: Gucci Pre Fall 2010 Promotion Campaign

I know Gucci has released some of the photos for the pre fall campaign awhile ago but I do not want to post them till I have the HQ version of them. Now, I think is the time to show one of the best campaign for this upcoming season.

The campaign is photographed by my favorite duo Mert and Marcus featuring models include Raquel Zimmermann and Joan Smalls. I am surprised to know that the campaign is shot on location in Morocco and the sand and the cars are giving a boost to the photos.

Ray of Inspirology: Novartis "Reflections" Campaign

This campaign is stunning and it has nothing to do with fashion.

Recently I have come across this ad campaign that is shot by Tom Hussey on Behance and cannot resist of not talking about it. Each photo in the campaign has a mirror that does the "special reflection". Whenever the person is looking at the mirror, he/she will see his/her past career. Even though I am not too sure what this ad is about, from the tagging, it shows it has something to do with Health Care. I think Tom Hussey can leave a comment here and let us more about it?

Speaking of the photos here, I am liking the mood created by the lighting and the set. I also think that this concept will be so cool if applies on a fashion editorial. Fashion photographers, time to put your creative cap on, maybe this set will inspire you to do something great!
