Trendology: Romandin

Third day of FAT, the show is still showing some very different design from the local and international artists. One of the best show I saw today is Romandin, by the local artist Cristina Sabaiduc.  This collection is very experimental about textures and unconventional materials; the various textures she used including canvas, mesh, and acrylic.  She combined or used these textures alone to create an amazing collection.

She kicked off her show with a metallic canvas dress, with acrylics spatted on top.  To give the dress more textures, she created bumps with the acrylics as if it's the start point of the brush.  Next was the mesh dress. Using mesh alone, the dress looked like a softened cage.  I believe this collection has 2 signature designs, one was the hand woven dress and the other one was the freestyle flow dress. Cristina weaved the thin fabric and mesh together, created her own piece of fabric.  Thus the dresses with her own fabric and cut were more than unique.  The final piece was the flow dress with water-colour prints.  It had an inner piece that allowed the wearer/designer to create different drapes for the dress as they wished.
