Trendology: Costume National Menswear S/S Collection 2011

Mr. Ennio Capasa, this is one simple and neat collection! In his own words, this is what he says about this collection: "“This collection should be looked at closely. It’s full of inventions that take traditional Italian tailoring into the future. Laser cut natural fabrics and couture garments are uncut and without seams thanks to thermo welding tecniques, transforming traditional tailoring into techno-tailoring”.

Even though cream, black, grey and beige lime are the only colors you will see throughout the runway show, My eyes do not grow tired of this collection at all. When looking at the runway photos, everything looks very soft and light to me. As usual, Ennio is making the slim silhouette and to me, the cuttings in this collection are flawless. All the jackets are "entirely laser cut and thermo welded, without seams" which makes them perfectly structured. If you look closely, you will see there are two types of fabrics merge together for the pieces (wool at the front and translucent silk on the back). I am loving these jackets so much that I wish they will be in my closet one day! There is another style I am absolutely in love with in this collection and it is the shirt + tie  + t-shirts combination. Putting the slightly transparent t-shirt on top of the dress shirt and tie does create a very edgy look and I am willing to try that out!

As for the pants, I think the roll up pants style is going to stay in the next S/S season. In particular, I have my eyes on the 5-pocket jeans. It looks very comfy and this kind of jeans will work well for me since I am not a skinny jeans person.

Overall, this is a solid collection for Ennio Capasa and the exquisite craftsmanship is shown throughout the whole runway show. I am loving it!  Bravo!

Thanks to the press team at Costume National for providing some great information on this collection!
