Trendology: Z Zegna Menswear S/S Collection 2011

This is Zegna's 100th year in the fashion industry and this Z Zegna runway show doest not disappoint me or the audience at all. In Alessandro Sartori's own words, this is what we should see in this collection: “The authenticity of the past intertwined with the present creates a provocation that can be called future".

I still remember the S/S 2010 collection has the Alice in Wonderland influence to it but for 2011, it is all about the looks of a modern man. The looks range from laid back shorts and t-shirts to bright red suits for formal occasion. The color palette is inspired by the "mineral shades; chalky white, gravel or slate grey, basalt black and an intense brick shade recalling cretan vases". I am specifically attracted to the digital prints because they remind me of the muscles of the human body. Since the silhouette here is fluid, when the models are walking on the stage, the clothes are like their second skin and wrap naturally around their bodies. Because of the cutting, I love this collection more. Some of the pieces I like are red/white lines patterned shirt, the brown/red blazer, the red suit and the 2 shades of grey blazers. I have to say the color red has injected a lot of energy into this collection!

Here are the looks I like and you can click here for the complete collection. Thanks to the Zegna press team for the valuable information on this collection!
