Icon: I Scream Awards - Shop My Clothes

We hope you had a wonderful weekend and we are sure you are anticipating the final 3 coverages of our I Scream Awards photo shoot and interviews. Today, we have Jonathan Elisa, the co-founder of Shop My Clothes (where you can sell your used items on the site!). Let's see what he has to say about his contribution to the fashion world in 2010!

What was the most memorable thing you had done this year with your blog/career/website? Why?
First off Marcus I just wanted to thank both yourself and Kyle for putting together such a wonderful project and really showcasing some incredible Canadian talents.

As for the most memorable thing that ShopMyClothes has done this year I would have to say it was the actual launch of the website. Our main goal when we launched was to create a community of likeminded users/fashionistas/dealhunters/browsers. Then watching the website grow with every new member, post and purchase, amazed us (still does) each and every day. We've been able to create something that is used by such a diverse range of people. We've been able to sign up members across both Canada and the U.S. with minimal marketing and we still can't get over it. We've really been blessed with amazing support from family, friends, store owners, media sources, you name it, they've all showed us tremendous encouragement. We've always said that 2010 was just the beginning and that we can not wait to show you what we have in store for 2011....

How do you view the fashion scene in Toronto right now?
I wouldn't necessarily say it's a fashion scene in Toronto, but rather that there are pockets of fashion across the GTA. You have the queen west/parkdale area, yorkville, King Street, Leslieville you get the drift. Now with that being said, I believe that each pocket has its own specific fashion scene and truth be told they are unbelievably varied. Yes, I consider myself more 'hipster' inclined but that style may not mesh with someone from say King street. All I am trying to convey is that fashion is objective to each and every one out there. But at the end of the day it's how you put an outfit together, not where you bought it, not which brand it is but rather how it looks on you. Do I think Torontonians should take more of a risk and step outside of the box, for sure, but with that being said, fashion is whatever you feel most comfortable in both aesthetically and functionally.

What are you aiming to achieve with your website in 2011?
2011 is going to be a very important year for ShopMyClothes. We are doing a major update to the website for the new year and we will be focusing more on the marketing portion of the company, expanding membership across Canada and the U.S. I want ShopMy to become the go to online marketplace for buyers and sellers of 'newsed' clothing. At the end of the day, the most important aspect of ShopMy is developing our community. Making it bigger while at the same time keeping that close knit feel...to say that I am excited is an understatement. Just stay tuned for some very exciting things to come. I can't release all the secrets just yet.

Now I am sure everyone will want to head to Shop My Clothes and sell their products! Tomorrow, we are going to have our last interview with our final I Scream Awards winner: Breeyn McCarney.
