Time[less]: Van Cleef & Arpels Five Weeks in a Balloon

A new year means a new weekly segment is born. This category of goods is something I have been daydreaming ever since I was kid. You may or may not know, I am obsessed with watches. No, I am not talking about watches you can buy at any department stores, but rather, some very detail oriented pieces that are produced in limited quantities. To start off this section right, let's focus on this amazing watch.

The title of this watch is called Five Week in a Balloon and produced by French jewellery brand VAn Cleef & Arpels. The inspiration of this watch comes from the 1863 novel Cinq Semaines En Ballon by Jules Verne. The hour is indicated by the flying bird while the hot air balloon anchor indicates minutes. The image of the watch is taken from the scene where the hot-air balloon is rising into the air of Zanzibar.

Other than the white gold case, the watch is also made of Chamlevé enamel and mother-of-pearl. Of course, this watch is in limited production and each piece is numbered. My suggestion is, if you are going to have a Tom Ford suit on, you better have this watch on your wrist to show your taste and status.
