Walk the Walk: Givenchy F/W 2012 Menswear Collection

While I am still living in the Birds of Paradise dream, Riccardo Tisci wants to tell me that he is already back to the urban jungle and he is taking inspirations from the American flag.

I have to be honest with you, I am not a big fan of the first few pieces of the collection and all I could think of was: I bet Kanye and Jay-Z must be a big influence of this collection. After the few lacklustre looks, the collection starts to hit me hard with the black stripes slim fit suit and I love what I see following that ensemble. Stars is clearly still a very important element to Tisci's empire and this time he has decided to use this element to decorate the shoulder and neck area.

I am extremely impressed with the beaded pieces as they look very unusual, mysterious and bold. If you are a fan of this fashion house, you should not be surprised to see a lot of oversized shirts on the runway. In conclusion, I am very happy to see Riccardo continues to push the fashion envelope and staying true to his artistic vision. This is definitely one of my favourite collections for this coming season.

Pros:
- This collection still has a huge hip hop flavour and as you can see, the man's skirt trend is back.
- The detailing in this collection is superb! How can you not love the scale jacket? (and the beaded shoes)
- No one can design stars pattern as mysterious as Riccardo Tisci
- There is a good balance between the slim fit pieces and oversize pieces. Clearly there is something for everyone.

Cons:
- I am not feeling the house print much. I think Bird of Paradise has really reached the climax of print when it comes to print design.

Eye Candies:
- Black suit with star studs around the shoulder area
- Red beaded dress boots
- Brown scale jacket
- Brown shirt with black and white stripes (orange pipping)
