Walk the Walk: Mary Katrantzou F/W 2013 Collection

Mary Katrantzou is going dark this coming season and I think this is a quite risky and experimental move. First of all, I still really like the prints, especially the monochrome impressionistic photo prints, which adds a romantic vibe to some of the pieces. I am also very impressed by the embossed piece as I think this should be the next step for Mary to explore with her coming collections.

Now let's get to the silhouette. The reason why the prints are very dark this season is because the designer wants to emphasize on the shapes. Some of them remind me of Japanese kimonos with a modern take. I am not entirely sure if I like a few of the silhouette because some of them are just a little bit too much for me. I, however, will give props to the designer for continue exploring the different possibilities with this brand.

I hope for the S/S 2014 season, she will bring back the flares from S/S and F/W 2011 collection. Those were the collections that made me fall in love with this brand in the first place.

Pros:
- I really like the impressionistic black and white photo prints, they make some of the pieces very classy and elegant.
- It's good to see the knitwear to be presented in this collection.
- I am very impressed with the embossed print on the black leather dress.
- Many of the designs remind me of deconstructed kimonos.

Cons:
- Few of the shapes may not work too well for this collection. They look a little bit too much for my taste.

Eye Candies:
- Embossed black leather dress
- Metallic landscape print dress
- Metallic coat
