Trendology: Focus: Life Gear by TRIDENT

This morning, I was lucky to be one of the first to attend an fashion exhibition curated by TRIDENT.

The focus point of this collection? It is an experiment and every garment contains fabric that will block your phone signal.

These 11 pieces are designed by Kunihiko Morinaga (Anrealage) and they are quite futuristic. The pockets are made of RF Shielding fabric, which will block out all the signals to and from your phone. Currently this collection is displayed at 536 Queen St W Toronto (till April 6th) and you can visit the official website for more information. You can also watch the "making of" video below.

There is always a reason for products to exist. For this collection, you might think it is just a gimmick, but it actually raises a very important question: is your handheld device more important than real life interactions with the people around you? Next time when you are having dinner with your friends, maybe it will be a good thing to put your phone away from the table. Your friends will appreciate that.
