For this season, the designers pushed the menswear envelope again by transferring the colourful prints from the womenswear to the menswear. The animal print and the tulip print suits were 2 of the best examples of this new approach. There were also some loose fit pieces which showed the bohemian vibe. The camouflage had a new colour palette, which became more retro than the previous seasons.
As for the accessories, the 2 tone bags were great for men, and the abstract face pins were something fun for next year. Fans of the Valentino sneakers would rejoice because the designers created a potential new staple piece for the fashion house - those new 2-tone sneakers were great!
Now I am very curious to see what Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli have in store for us for the F/W 2014 Haute Couture collection.
Pros:
- Aside from camouflage, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli use the floral and animal prints on the menswear. It's a pleasant surprise.
- The face pins and the floral print scarves will be hit items next year. Especially the pins, they are so surreal and edgy.
- Loving the couture elements of this collection (embroidery, cutting of the outerwear etc)
- The military green pieces with butterfly embroideries are like the modern version of boy scout uniforms.
- The sneakers should be the new staple pieces of the brand.
Cons:
- Wish the bags could have the floral prints.
5 Must Haves:
- Animal print suit
- Face pin
- 2 tone leather bag
- Sneakers
- Burgundy & white hoodie
