This debut collection is inspired by 2 things: Group of Seven paintings (especially Lawrence Harris and Franklin H Johnston) and Yann Arthus-Bertrand photography works. The print is actually an abstract version of the location where Harris painted "Afternoon Sun Lake Superior", then Coimbra uses the colour palette from Johnston's "Patterned Hillside" to give a refreshing touch to the pattern. The result is an abstract take on camouflage.
The entire collection consists of a lot of great streetwear pieces, and I particularly love the cropped jacket (both versions), and the camo shirt. From a business point of view, this is a very sellable collection because all the pieces are very wearable, and they are not completely over the top. Also, limiting the colour palette and using the camo pattern repeatedly are smart ideas because now buyers/customers will remember what's the major element in this collection.
As a friend, I am very proud of Andrew for creating such an amazing collection. Even though I could not be there to see his runway show, based on these photos, I know he is going to do well in the menswear fashion industry.
Andrew, my eyes are on you!
P.S Andrew, make me a tie from this pattern, I want it!
