Exhibition: Pompeii: In the Shadow of the Volcano

Yesterday, I was invited to attend the preview of ROM's latest exhibition - Pompeii: In the Shadow of the Volcano. If you love Italian history, then this will not be something you will want to miss.

Roughly 2000 years ago in Year 79, Mount Vesuvius, a volcano in southern Italy, erupted and the city of Pompeii was vanished within 24 hours. Nearly 1,700 years later, archaeologists started to uncover the artifacts from the site.

In this exhibition, approximately 200 artifacts are featured to tell the story of the city including the lifestyles of the citizens living there, and the Italian culture. Many of the objects have never before travelled outside Italy (loaned by The Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Naples and the Soprintendenza Speciale di Pompei, Erocolano e Stabia). One of the major highlights in this exhibition is the new copies of casts of citizens who perished in Pompeii, created using leading-edge 3D technology.

The exhibition dates are from June 13, 2015 (Saturday) to January 3, 2016 (Sunday). If you want to be one of the first to see this great exhibition, you can get tickets to this week's Friday Night Live (#FNLROM). Since I have been to #FNLROM several times already, I can promise you are going to have a good time there on a Friday night!
