Walk the Walk: Issey Miyake S/S 2013 Menswear Collection

Bike messenger is the theme of S/S 2013 Issey Miyake menswear collection and the design team has really translated this theme well.

The clothes in this collection are very sporty and youthful. I especially the oversized cape jacket and the kimono inspired outerwear. My biggest surprise will be the tie dye pieces. Even though I am not too sure how it is related to the bike messenger theme, without a doubt, this element has enhanced the collection to a new level. What do you think?

Pros:
- I like the biker theme of this collection. There are so many cool and practical pieces in this collection.
- The tie dye print is amazing. I would love to get the blazer and the shirt!
- I can see there is an indirect Japanese kimono influence in this collection, especially you can see this element on the tops and capes.
- The use of reflective material is cool on some of the pieces.

Cons:
- If there could be some more slim fit pieces, that would be amazing.

Eye Candies:
- The black and white tracksuit top
- Blue tie dye shirt
- Blue tie dye blazer
- Kimono style top
- Cape jacket

Walk the Walk: Issey Miyake F/W 2011 Collection

This season Issey Miyake is all about colors, patterns and angular shape designs! The show opens with a small presentation with models wearing paper prototype pieces which really shows how creative Dai Fujiwara is with her designs. The collection has a lot of pieces that have the angular designs to create the edgy vibe. I am also liking the use of different patterns which gives a great kick to the whole collection. This is a fun collection to wear in the coming season.

Pros:
- Loving the angular design, it gives a very edgy vibe to the collection.
- The paper series is very artistic and innovative.
- The use of different patterns is creating a vibrate vibe to this collection.
- Many pieces a highly wearable and the angular design is making these RTW pieces to stand out from the crowd.

Cons:
- The last number looks like it is from S/S collection.
- It will be great if I could see more pieces with the optical illusion pattern.

Eye Candies:
- The paper series
- The red tartan blouse
- Grey Houndstooth long coat

Funkology: Evian by Issey Miyake

Have I ever mentioned here in the blog that I'm a water bottle collector? I collect a lot of water bottles, especially ones from Evian.  Their original bottle design is lovely, and they started this fabulous collaboration with fashion designers which made me drool over all of them.  After Christian Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Paul Smith, here comes Issey Miyake for the French water.  This colourful design sends out so much positive energy, even autumn has already arrived, it feels like spring is coming with the simple, yet colourful flower.

Trendology: Issey Miyake Spring 2011 Collection

Issey Miyake has a very refreshing collection this year for our lovely spring time.  They combined graphic design with fashion, adding their chosen colour palette, this collection gives you enough energy for spring.

Materials and textures, I believe, are nothing new.  Yet the colours and the graphics give the design a whole new dimension when combining with the materials.  Details are not to be missed here, collars with mesh fabric, the hem, and the wrinkled fabric are some good examples of the detailing in this collection.  Other than these playful design, the clean cut suits also caught my eyes.  A classic design, yet modern and fashionable.
