How to get started

When you are trying to get into an industry such as modelling or acting. The first thing you need is looks, this NOT to be interpeted as are you attractive or not. Your look is based on what you do with your style. Take the time to find out what complements your best features. Try new hair styles, make up, clothes, and accessories. Then ask your friends and co-workers opinions on your new style. Once you have a good look that complements you, you are ready to move on the second step.

Next step is to get experience under your belt. There is one of two ways to do this. 1. Trial and error. I would not suggest this method for many reasons. The last thing a director or photographer wants to hear is "What do you want me to do". Another reason is this industry is based on networking, so if you make a mistake it could cost your career. 2. Education. The best place for experience is getting lessons for modelling or going to school for acting. Want to know why it is the best place for experience because you are allowed to experiment and get constructive critizism, then at the end of lessons you can put it on resume.

What else you can do to put more on your model/acting resumes.Well when you go to agencies who really know what they are doing you be asked a set of questions such as: (for guys) Do you have hair on your chest and back? Do you have abs? how tall are you? What are your measuremens? What sports do you play? What kind of liscences do you have? And so on... Therefore, you want to have as much on resume as possible. This means go out and experience life! Take up hobbies, you will be suprised to know that when an agent or casting director has looked at your resume and see that you dance, chances are you be asked to do dance movements. This will BENEFIT your chances of getting a gig. Next, Go out to galleries and find out about new artist that are getting attention. A lot of times in auditions you will be asked, "So whats up?" You will look awesome when you say something like "Well I went to this gallery and saw this new photographer named _______ (fill in blank) and his/her work looks quite promising."

Final step is.... NETWORK! Get out there and meet people. Try going to agencies with your awesome look, and your resume showing how awesome you are. Get an agent to help get you out there. Create your own projects, find a photographer get couple of great professional photos to help get you work. Hopefully, this blog has given a good idea on how to get started!
