Trendology: Jil Sander Spring 2011 RTW

Instead of going all complicated and complex, Raf Simons turned things around and focus on the basics - shape, volume, proportion, new materials - giving us a collection about minimalism.  There's no fancy patterns or fabrics, but it's about stripes and a fantastic colour palette including shocking pink, violet, orange and yellow, electric green and blue. Influenced by haute couture, the used of long skirts and dresses are emphasized, a tie at the waist line on the dresses are to show the proportion of the body.  Lots of volume in the collection, peplum and ultra-wide trousers are dominating as white t-shirt or tank top are chosen to be the match.  As much as Raf Simons did for his men's collection, a similar variation is now done on his women's collection with haute couture influences while wearable on the street.
