Trendology: Marni Spring RTW 2011

The first thing that we noticed in this collection is probably the tight leather cap that already says a lot about the collection - luxury athleticism.  There is no doubt the collection is influenced by scuba diving with the hat and the outfit, yet Consuelo Castiglioni turned it into a feminine luxury item for women.  The laser cut leather jackets are one of the most eye catching pieces, it eliminated the heaviness of leather and turned into a layer that stands alone perfectly but speaking the same language with the pieces below. Layering is one huge play here as leather skirt is added onto the scuba diving outfit, cycling shorts are to wear with lace pieces.  Asymmetrical designs are emerging as the show goes, also scuba diving outfit, yet ruffles are added at the hip line with eccentric colour that makes it young and playful.  Vintage print dresses are also included in the collection, it is so timeless that it's like something from your grandmother's closet but you wish you can throw it on one day just for the beauty of it.
