Trendology: Louis Vuitton Celebrates Diwali

If you live in India or have an India culture background, you should be very familiar with Diwali. In November and December 2010, Louis Vuitton will celebrate Diwali, one of the biggest festivals in the India culture by working on a few special projects.

First off, all the Louis Vuittion store windows worldwide have a special display in collaboration with Rajeev Sethi, an Indian artist who loves to give traditional artistic works with a modern contemporary twist. Since Diwali is also known as the Festival of Lights, "the windows showcase columns of trunks, specially crafted and hand-painted in India on Banana fibre paper, glow from the inside giving passers-by the feeling of gaiety and festivity." I am already loving this idea and I can't wait to walk pass by the store to see this amazing display!

Amazing display!

Furthermore, Louis Vuitton will rework some of the S/S and F/W 2010 collection by using "the fabric from authentic “vintage” saris sourced in the cities of New Delhi, Bombay, Bangalore, Madras, and other cities in India". These pieces will only be sold in Paris Montaigne store and they will all be in size 38.

Some pieces from the capsule collection.

Last but not least, Louis Vuitton, a new original fabric, designed by the Louis Vuitton studio with a mix of Monogram flowers and Indian traditional motifs, will produce 3 Ready To Wear pieces and a scarf. this fabric will come in silk and cotton and you can purchase these pieces worldwide in Louis Vuitton stores.

Nice dresses right?

Now I am sure everyone will want to head to the Louis Vuitton stores near your house to take a look at the window display and perhaps getting yourself a dress for the holiday. Hurry up before December is over!

  1. I love the window display and the celebration of Diwali. Although I am Christian I am already tiring of "Christmas". It's a very tacky holiday.
