[Un]Discovers: Cor Sine Labe Doli

I have been a huge fan of Cor Sine Labe Doli ever since I saw the ceramic papillon on the internet. Recently I finally found a way to order one and the physical product is amazing! If you were at the Elle Canada 10th Anniversary party, you would have seen me wearing it. Today, I am very fortunately to be able to interview Luigi Arbore, Antonio Patruno Randolfi and Massimo Mazzilli, the founders of Cor Sine Labe Doli.

Hello Luigi, Antonio and Massimo, thanks so much for doing this interview with me. First, would you be able to give me a brief history of Cor Sine Labe Doli?
Cor Sine Labe Doli takes its name from the completion of the armorial of the founder birth town, Corato. and our motto is « Cuore Senza Macchia Di Tradimento », which translates as "A Heart with no betrayal blemish". Our brand is inspired by the old values and a lost elegancy, that have been revised in a modern and avantgarde way. By putting these elements together, a stylish and creative experiment of creating a papillon with ceramic was born. This is the first style expression of the brand.

A dream, a world made of strong values such as friendship and radication to the native origins, and the  sweeping passion for the fashion system are the reason why Cor Sine Labe Doli is born. Simplicity, refinement, linearism « with no betrayal blemish » are the bases of the brand and at the end of 2009, Cor Sine Labe Doli is moving its first steps to the international fashion panorama.

I remembered I first saw your products online was around the beginning of 2010. I am glad I am not that late on knowing your brand! What made you want to use ceramic to create accessories? Is there any difficulty while using ceramic to create fashion products?
Cor Sine Labe Doli was born from the exigency to give a new life to the famous Italian elegancy fashion tradition, reactualizing the most important men fashion accessory, the papillon, giving it a new life, new shapes, new usages and a new target. Not ever referred only to an adult and particularly sober target, the papillon becomes the key accessory to give a glamour touch, eccentric but very elegant, to a gilet, a coloured shirt or a little black dress, as also a simple and classic T-shirt. The estro and the artisan work are mixed together to give the life to a new accessory, at the same time original, with no precedents, but with a strong stylish past.

I have to agree, the papillon does give me a touch of glamour to my outfit and I am loving it. For the readers who may not be familiar to the brand, would you mind to give us a brief description of each collection (Cordium, Primo..etc)?
The papillon is the ceramic papillon and it is Cor Sine Labe Doli's first product, that’s why it is named « Primo », the Italian word for first.

Cordium is the tie with the ceramic heart that takes birth from the intuition of giving an original solution to the boring matter of knotting one’s tie. The knot is made in a prestigious Italian ceramic, in different colours to match with fine silk or leather strips, in a large or thin size. The tie Cordium is the ideal accessory for all the people that do not know how knotting one’s tie or do not love doing it, just like a child.

Beyond Papillon Primo, Cor Sine Labe Doli will introduce Alter Ego: the new bow-tie with a bohemian and jaunty shape, more three-dimensional, smaller but equally nice. Together with Primo, Alter Ego will try to complete the male wardrobe signed by Cor Sine Labe Doli.

Another highlight of this new collection is Cerami-chette, the ceramic pochette. Elegant, a rupture piece, easy to wear, in a wide range of colours ranging from white to the precious silver and gold colours.

The brand was born and took its first steps with menswear collections, this time it explores womens universe by conceiving and creating Femina, the ceramic interpretation of feminine elegance to be worn around the neck. A chic accessory that can be both a bow tie worn with a shirt, as well as a necklace to wear on a glamorous bare neck. All in the classic colours: black, blue, white, powder pink, silver and gold.

Finally, Cor Sine Labe Doli will also present Eloquium, the new unisex fragrance designed thinking about the sunny lands of southern Italy and its scents: clean feeling, like just hung fresh laundry, a beautiful sunny day, a caressing breeze, the dry smell of a pipe or a cigarette or a burnt field, juxtaposed to the delicate and intoxicating scent of flowers. The perfume is packaged in a ceramic bottle, material that has characterized the brand since its debut.

Alter Ego, Cordium and Cerami-chette are definitely the 3 things I want to have in my wardrobe! I just have to find the place that carry them. Right now, I know Cor Sine Labe Doli are only sold in Europe. Are you planning to expand the market to North America someday?
Wrong, Cor Sine Labe Doli is, still in a small way, already distributed in Canada and Usa, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan...and more and more ! We would like to conquire the world!

Now I have to search around and see where I can get Cor Sine Labe Doli products in Toronto. So, what are we expecting to see in the next collection? Are we expecting to see some new ceramic products?
Just a little bit of suspence, but more ceramic products, new material experimentations, the extension fo the female world, and ...

New material experimentation, that sounds great! Last but not least, would you want to collaborate with another fashion brand in the future? If so, who would you want to work with and what kind of products would you want to produce?
We are trying to build a co-branding with one of our most appreciated brands, we are seducing them to do it. We would like to extedn our wardrobe, proposing a total look, signed Cor Sine Labe Doli.
