Walk the Walk: Burberry Prorsum S/S 2012 Collection

Beads, weaves, parkas and prints, that was exactly how Christopher Bailey described this collection.

Bailey sent out a troop of models dressing up in the tribal inspired S/S 2012 collection Monday afternoon during London Fashion Week. This collection was truly the continuation of the pre-spring collection as it was all about beads and weaves. I was very amazed by the detailing on some of the pieces such as the handcrafted beaded crochet collars on the trench coat, crochet raffia trim on the parka and the handcrafted geometric wooden beads on the shirts. Of course, the accessories were as amazing as the previous seasons and my friends and I could not get over the beaded canvas clutches. Also, this season, Bailey introduced a new style called the Burberry whipstich bag and it looks very nice as well!

Overall, I am very impressed with this collection and I really admire Bailey by once again putting the menswear and womenswear into one solid theme. I occasionally see brands like to put the 2 collections into 2 separate themes but Bailey has made a fine example to show the public that 1 theme for 2 collections does work for the fashion house. Bravo!

Pros:
- Even though the colour palette is a little bit dark for the S/S season, I actually think it works very well with the collection.
- The craftsmanship on the pieces is superb! I am amazed on how Baily can blend the beaded and crochet technique on so many pieces.
- The beaded canvas clutch is one of the major highlight in the accessories department. So is the new Burberry whipstitch bag.
- I love the tribal influence on this collection and also how this is the continuation of the pre-spring collection. Not many brands do that and I salute Bailey for making a fine example.
- Once again, I find the menswear and the womenswear to be very attachable as these 2 collection have the same theme and inspiration. Finally, a brand that group 2 brands in 1 solid theme.

Cons:
- I wonder when Christopher Bailey will want to develop the evening wear for the Prorsum brand.
