Walk the Walk: Chanel S/S 2012 Collection

It seems like underwater is a big theme for this S/S 2012 season. First there is Givenchy, now there is Chanel.

Underwater scene is the main inspiration of this collection. Unlike like Riccardo using mermaids as the muse, Uncle Karl is using shells, pearls and corals as the blueprint for this collection. The models are portrayed as sparkling pearls, colourful corals or some beautiful sea creatures. I personally think the black outline on some of the pieces has injected a new vibe to the brand as these pieces become more youthful and fun to wear. Also, the use of ruffles here reminds me of the moving corals in the ocean which I think is a very brilliant design. The only problem is, I really do not see the point of showing the swimwear on the runway as those pieces are just too normal for fashionista's appetite. What do you think?

Pros:
- I really like the pastel palette, it makes the collection looks young and fun to wear.
- There are some pretty print pieces.
- The black outline of some of the pieces actually gives a refreshing feeling to the brand.
- The ruffle dresses remind me of the corals in the ocean
- The pearl makeup for sure will be a hit next season.

Cons:
- I know this collection is inspired by the ocean, but I really don't think the swimwear should make it on the runway.

Eye Candies:
- Pearl clutch
- Coral print summer dress
- Black with nude ruffle dress
