Minjee Kang took inspirations from the Red Valentino Resort 2017 collection and created this lovely piece! The collection really suits the fairytale vibe so I think it is a nice match for the artist to put Snow White and the Evil Queen in those outfits.   [Read Here]

Dots[Connection]: Oriental Flavour

Here is your weekly Draw A Dot. recap!

One of the most popular S/S 2015 illustrations is the Dolce & Gabbana lady with the flora crown. I have seen different versions of it, and in my opinion, this one is the best out of all. It is created by Celine Wong, and she injects a very nice oriental brush stroke flavour to it. It's refreshing!  [Read Here]

I have a soft spot for the Chanel S/S 2015 Haute Couture collection because the theme is refreshing and the clothes are very beautiful. Here is a series created by Yoyo Miyoko, and I love how she adds a Japanese manga twist to it. These illustrations may give you a new prospective on this collection.[Read Here]

Picture Perfect: Chanel No.5 2014 Campaign

I may or may not have watched this short film repeatedly...

10 years ago, I was completely mesmerized by Baz Luhrmann's Chanel No.5 campaign starring Nicole Kidman. It was pretty and dramatic. Fast forward to 2014, the director is appointed by the fashion house again to create yet another stunning campaign. The short film follows the love journey of the character portrayed by Gisele Bundchen, with special appearances by Michiel Huisman and Lo-Fang (singing The One That I Want).

The short film is pretty, glamourous, sporty, and once again reminds you of the movie Moulin Rouge.

Please excuse me as I need to watch this video again right now.

Picture Perfect: Chanel Cruise 2015 Campaign

Chanel has just released the Cruise 2015 campaign and I am in love with the images!

Karl Lagerfeld is once again the photographer of this series, and it features Joan Smalls and the adorable Hudson Korenig. This is such a good combination, and the final result is a series of clean and classy images.

What are your thoughts?

Before we start the recap, I just want to remind you that Draw A Dot. is currently having an open call for an upcoming Swide project. All you have to do is to submit one of your best existing works to me before this Sunday. Then the Swide team and I will pick the winners on Wednesday for this project. Hurry up! Time is running out!

Now let's get back to the weekly recap!

Adriana showed me her latest illustrations few days ago and I was blown away by them. Without a doubt, she already has amazing illustration skills and this time, she has added a vintage poster vibe to make these illustrations more outstanding. Clearly, I am a big fan of this style. [Read Here]

Ray of Inspirology: Chanel Pre-Fall 2013 Campaign

The best pre-fall campaign at the moment? It has to be Chanel.

The latest campaign is shot by Karl Lagerfeld and it features style icon Tilda Swinton. From background to clothing, lighting to composition, everything is perfect here and the images really capture the vibe of this collection. I seriously can look at these images all day long.

What do you think?

StyleNotes[Cheat Sheet]: Divas!

This past week the fashion world was all about divas.

Beyonce is the new face of H&M's summer campaign and the images are good. The shoot was done at Bahama in January and was shot by by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Apparently Beyonce also gave her own inputs to this shoot.  [Read Here]

As expected, this ad campaign is very exotic, which really suits Bey's style. (source: StyleNotes)

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Chanel's first ever store in Deauville, France, Karl Lagerfeld is going to shoot a short film and premiere it in May during the Cruise collection runway show in Singapore. Keira Knightley is selected to be Coco Chanel and she will star alongside some famous models such as Stella Tennant and Tallulah Harlech. [Read Here]

Fashion[Knowledge]: The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's Classic Revisited

Back in April, I wrote an entry about The Little Black Jacket project by Chanel and now these images are all published in a book.

If you have not heard of this project, this is about the celebration of Chanel's iconic little black jacket. All the photos are shot by Karl Lagerfeld and styled by Carine Roitfeld. Some of the celebrities in this book include Claudia Schiffer, Uma Thurman, Kanye West, Tilda Swinton, Baptiste Giabiconi, Yoko Ono and Sarah Jessica Parker. You can now purchase this book online at Indigo. I think this will be a perfect gift to someone who likes fashion, especially if he or she is a Chanel fan.

Ray of Inspirology: Modern Couture

If you are a fan of Saskia de Brauw, you will not want to miss out this amazing series!

This editorial is featured in the latest issue of AnOther Magazine and it is shot by Ruth Hogben (from ShowStudio). Saskia looks absolutely stunning in some of the Haute Couture pieces from fashion houses such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Atelier Versace and Maison Martin Margiela. I really like the mood of this shoot as it is very gloomy, which is not the vibe I was expected from a Haute Couture shoot. What do you think?

Ray of Inspirology: Statement Scents

If you are still not awake by now, maybe this editorial will help you. It's time to play the "where's my fragrance" game!

In the latest issue of Book For Men by SHARP, Rick Genest (Zombie boy) is shot by Matt Barnes in this black and white editorial. It is interesting to see how the fragrance bottles are acting like tattoos and are embedded on Rick's body. If you are familiar with fragrances, you should be able to spot the Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb, Diesel Only the Brave, Fan di Fendi, and Blue de Chanel bottles.

Now are you awake yet?
