The collection was inspired by the Norman Kings who invaded the Kingdom of Sicily in the 11th century. For the first 8 looks of the runway show, each model was wearing a sweat shirt representing 1 of the 8 kings. Afterwards, there were a lot of interesting prints on the garments (suits, pants, shirts) such as armours, and architectures. In order to make this collection relevant to the model days, the duo presented some great double breasted suits on the runway. If the kings were still alive, I believe they would be wearing one of them as their uniforms.
One thing I really like here is that all the accessories have a lot of details, as if they are part of a Haute Couture collection. I can guarantee the crown and the gloves will be a big hit in the editorials in the up coming season. Overall, this collection has once again blown my mind and I am already starting to brainstorm what kind of illustration project I want to do for Swide this coming season.
Pros:
- This collection is all about the Norman Kings and knights, and I just love the prints on the garments.
- The details on the pieces are amazing, especially on the accessories.
- Dolce & Gabbana is always so good with the suits and this time around, the duo has produced some wonderful double breasted suits with amazing prints.
- Can we just talk about the crown and the gloves? Those will be the hits for this coming season's editorials!
Eye Candies:
- The double breasted suits with prints
- The embellished dress shoes
- Oxblood knit with velvet panel
- The crown
- The gloves
