Walk the Walk: Calvin Klein Collection F/W 2016 Menswear

Italo Zucchelli presented the F/W 2016 Calvin Klein Collection Menswear yesterday and it was a fun collection.

For this season, Italo is concentrated on the outerwear and there are a lot of great long coats. As a person who loves metallic, I cannot help but to have my eyes fixed on the metallic shoes and bombers. Because of the neutral colour palette, this collection goes very well with many pieces in a man's wardrobe.

I havea a strong feeling you will see a lot of the metallic pieces in editoerials in the up coming season since they will look absolutely stunning in photos.

What do you think?

Pros:
- The colour palette (black, nude, white, silver and gold) is versatile and works for everything in a man's wardrobe.
- I like the selection of the jackets. There is definitely something for everyone (from short to tall).
- Anything metallic immediately catches my eyes and I am in love with the metallic bombers and the silver shoes.

Walk the Walk: Prada S/S 2016 Collection

Stripes, patchworks and embellishments fever!

Prada showed the S/S 2016 collection yesterday during Milan Fashion Week and the retro fever lives on with a modern twist. Skirt suit is the default silhouette here and the designer applies different materials such as suede, tweed, organza, snakeskin leather to make these pieces fashion forward. As usual, Prada has created some amazing accessories such as the shoes, earrings and bags. In my personal opinion, that neck piece should be a big hit item next season as it is a bit "strange" but easy to go with many outfits.

After looking at this collection, it looks like Miuccia still has not lost her magical touch on turning normal clothing into something spectacular.

Pros:
- The suits are interesting (slightly boxy and longer). Some of the skirts have asymmetrical cutting.
- The net accessory on the neck will be a hit next season.
- The jackets are nice, especially the stripes ones.
- Love the use of mixed fabrics. Fun combinations!

Walk the Walk: Salvatore Ferragamo S/S 2016 Menswear Collection

Massimiliano Giornetti's love of using colours on his Ferragamo menswear collection has been refreshing in the menswear world. For the S/S 2016 season, the colour palette is leaning more towards the darker jewel tone and reminds me of the colours you will see in the desert.

Stripes, both horizontal and vertical, is the major element in this collection. The graphic t-shirts are made of premium materials such as leather and suede to show a more elegant vibe of a simple design. I am also a fan of Massimiliano's suits because they are very well fitted for small body frame men. Everything is perfect in this collection, and there is definitely something for every Ferragamo fan.

Pros:
- Love the colour palette. It totally reminds me of the desert.
- Ferragamo's suits are always nice, and I am loving the colours on them this season.
- Cannot get enough of the graphic prints on the shirts and it seems like the tee on top of shirt will be a trend next season.
- That brown bomer jacket will be on my wish list!

Walk the Walk: Dolce & Gabbana F/W 2015 Collection

Dolce & Gabbana has decided to create a F/W collection dedicated to the most important member in a family - mother.

Rose is always associated with mother, so this has become the signature element (print, embroidery) in this collection. What I also like is how the kids drawing are used in some of pieces to show the mother's love of her children's works. Because they are created by Dolce & Gabbana, the mom's "uniforms" are very sexy and elegant with materials like lace, fur and leather. Of course, if you are a hip mom, how can you not love the edgy handphones?

Instead of roses, I believe in this coming Christmas gathering, kids from all around the world can save up and get something nice from this collection to their mothers.

Pros:
- Love the rose element in this collection. It is truly a symbol of love.
- The accessories are so elegant and beautiful. The headphones are edgy!
- The kids drawing pieces have this innocent vibe which I really like, and they also show how much a mother loves her children's works.
- As usual, the Dolce & Gabbana silhouette shows the beautiful figure of a woman.

Walk the Walk: Prada F/W 2015 Collection

Leave it to Miuccia Prada to stun you with a collection full of surprises! The biggest one being the use of a pastel color palette.  Usually applied to S/S collections, the switch up has Prada fans, such as myself, wanting to fast forward to the F/W 2015 season. As many of you are aware, Prada is known for using interesting fabrics (nylon for bags for example), and this time she choses to use double-faced jersey to create well tailored suits with a neoprene look in the end.  Ostrich leather, Perspex and furs are used to create noteworthy pieces for the collection. Prada print lovers are sure to find the molecule print to be a must have for next season.

In my opinion, this collection consists of some of the best elements from the S/S 2011 to S/S 2014 Prada collections. If this collection was a box of candy, I'd want to sample everything!

Pros:
- This collection consists of some of the best elements from the S/S 2011, F/W 2012, and S/S 2013, F/W 2013 collections.
- The pastel color palette is refreshing, not your typical F/W color palette.
- The shoes and the bags are beautiful. The bag in bag is going to be a hit next season.
- The use of double-faced jersey is going to set the trend for the fashion world. Expect to see this material on other collections soon.
- Prada always has nice prints and I am dying to own a tie with that molecule print.
- The silhouette of the suit is great, it adds a masculine vibe to the Prada woman.

Walk the Walk: Moncler Gamme Bleu F/W 2015 Collection

I always love to look at the Moncler Gamme Bleu collection, because every season Thom Browne blends his signature silhouette with sports elements, and this time, it's all about the horse jockey.

Each model on the runway has 2 jackets with almost identical textile - one is the down coat from the Moncler archives, and the other is the sport down-filled jacket created by Thom Browne. I love how the designer uses different fabrics/patterns to create the interesting panels for the jackets. If you have a pair of sharp eyes, you may see repetitive designs in this collection, but because of the different panels, viewers like me still love many things on the runway. I definitely would love to see some of these garments on editorials this coming season.

Walk the Walk: Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2015 Collection

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana presented their 30th anniversary collection during Milan Fashion Week today, and it brought back a lot of old classics to life with a new twist.

Spanish culture, especially the Spanish brand of Catholicism, was the major influence in this collection. Votive hearts and roses were elements that tied all the pieces together. This was also the first time the designers introduced the ponchos, and they fit very well with the aesthetic of the Dolce & Gabbana women. Accessories, especially the shoes, were totally breathtaking with the amazing embellishment details. Of course, the torero inspired finale ended the runway show on a very high note! Truly spectacular!

Watching this show was like a retrospective for this fashion house. To name a few signatures of this fashion house, there were the famous polka dots print, the carnations, the hour glass silhouettes, the crowns, and the puppet prints (which all showed up on the runway). Maybe the designers should consider producing more dolls (that were in the show), and have an exhibition with them wearing the iconic looks from different seasons.

Pros:
- The collection has a very solid theme: roses, votive hearts, and Spanish cultural influence
- The details in this collection are absolutely breathtaking.
- The prints are nice. I especially love the roses and polka dots one.
- The accessories, especially the shoes, are beautiful. Couture materials.
- Love the fringe element on the ponchos and dresses.
- As always, the finale is powerful!

Walk the Walk: Fendi S/S 2015 Collection

Fendi has been on fire lately, and for the coming S/S 2015 season, Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi once again proved the fashion house will continue to be every editor's favourite by presenting yet another flawless runway show. And the most importantly, the line is getting younger!

Fendi S/S 2015 contained everything needed to be in an excellent collection: wearables, non wearables, artistic prints, fun accessories and great footwear. The prints were lovely and reminded people of tropical places like Hawaii. Cutout and shredded designs were not new to the fashion industry, but thee 2 elements added a nice futuristic touch to many of the garments. The 4 dresses in the final were definitely editorial materials - they were pretty and edgy.

Karl and Silvia once again worked their magic to create a stunning collection, and it is a guarantee that we will be seeing a lot of garments on editorials in the new season.

Pros:
- Great to see how the designers use one single floral print (orchid) to create so many outfits for this collection. It's a memorable move.
- The shredded idea is refreshing, so is the ombre effect.
- Love the cutout idea, this gives a futuristic vibe to the collection.
- The accessories are amazing! Love the fur keychain/ornament!
- How can they insert those stripes of fabrics without any stitching? Breathtaking.

Walk the Walk: Dsquared² S/S 2015 Menswear Collection

Stephen Sprouse. Andy Warhol. A tribute to Pop Art!

Dean and Dan presented the Dsquared² S/S 2015 menswear collection on the last day of Milan Fashion Week, and it was a colourful treat for our eyes. The collection was inspired by the pop art culture with prints reminded audience of Andy Warhol's and Stephen Sprouse's works. The neon colour palette was the best way to remember the glorious days of the 80s, so were the white thick platform sneakers. Overall, this collection was definitely one of Dsquared²'s best in recent years.

Pros:
- The Caten brothers pay tribute to the pop art culture and there are a lot of great illustration pieces (graffiti prints, pop art shirts).
- The colour palette is very cool, as the neon colours truly reflect the pop art culture in the 80s.
- The sneakers are great, definitely a fun way to pay tribute to the pop culture.
- The neon camouflage is going to be a hit next season.

Cons:
- If the sunglasses could have a pop art touch, that would be perfect!

Walk the Walk: Calvin Klein Collection S/S 2015 Menswear

Italo Zucchelli presented the men's Spring 2015 Calvin Klein Collection this past Sunday in Milan. Made up of mostly tone on tone neutral beige and rich chocolate, with bursts of vermillion red and tangerine, this collection was live streamed on a la mode.

The collection was a hybrid version of sportswear met sartorial elegance . Silhouettes varied from tailored double breasted suit jackets to oversized quilted bombers. Zucchelli played peek a boo with undergarments and brought further attention to them with contrasting materials/colour combinations. Note the reverse layering of tanks and tees and how the overall styling worked to accentuate the athletic vibe.

Materials for the men's Spring 2015 Calvin Klein Collection included rich wools, colourful PVS and shiny eelskin.

Pros:
- The collection, while tight, caters to a wide market with versatile beige and chocolate anchoring the colour palette.
-A variety of silhouettes are included from bulky bombers to tailored single or double breasted suit jackets.
- Pants are clean lined and flattering while shorts are short and sexy.
- The shorts over mesh boxers layering concept should make for a popular menswear trend next year. Expect to see this in the upcoming editorials.
- The boots are very sporty and futuristic.

Cons:
- The PVC jackets will keep you dry, but be prepared to overheat.

Walk the Walk: Dolce & Gabbana F/W 2014 Collection

Just when I thought Dolce & Gabbana was going to present a runway show inspired by the queens in the medieval period (the menswear was inspired by kings and knights), the designers surprised me with their own version of fairy tale.

This collection consisted of many elements - from keys to animal patchworks, crystallized accessories to fur pieces, every look truly defined each character in the story (fairies, warriors, mages). The warrior looks were an extension of the menswear collection, which the girls looked super sexy and fearless in those armours. Out of all the pieces, the red fur coat was the most outstanding one because it reminded people of Red Riding Hood!  

Overall, this collection is whimsical and I guarantee many of the pieces (especially the accessories) will show up in editorials in the next season!

Pros:
- I like the fairy-tale theme a lot, especially it has a very dark vibe.
- I love the accessories, from the crystallized gloves to the armour boots, everything looks so perfect on the runway.
- The animal patchworks add a whimsical vibe to the pieces. On the other hand, the keys print created a magical vibe.
- The finale walk is once again breathtaking! The girls are fearless warriors with the most stunning armours in the Dolce & Gabbana fairy tale world.

Cons:
- I would like to see a queen figure in this collection.

Walk the Walk: Dsquared² F/W 2014 Menswear Collection

When Dean and Dan are committed to a theme, the collection will usually turn out very well. This F/W 2014 menswear collection is a good example.

Prison (or as many of the critics called, Orange Is the New Black) is the inspiration of this collection and the brothers have created their own versions of prisoners, guards and even doctors. Denim has once again become the major element of this collection and I am totally in love with the double breasted jacket. Aside from denim, there are also some great black pieces and the black tuxedo jump suit is definitely one of the biggest surprises.

This is probably the best collection in recent years (the last one that is still stuck in my head is the hockey F/W 2010 collection) and I am once again excited to see what they are going to show for the S/S 2015 season.

Pros:
- I like the theme of this collection. Using prison as an inspiration is something unexpected, and it serves as a good thread to link the entire collection together.
- Glad to see the denim element is once again playing a major role in this collection. If you are a fan of this brand, you know its denim is the trademark.
- The black tuxedo jumpsuit is a big surprise and I am sure you will see this in editorial in the next season.
- I quite like the cutting of the coats.

Cons:
- I think the bags are too big for everyday use.

Walk the Walk: Calvin Klein Collection F/W 2014 Menswear

When it comes to Calvin Klein Collection, Italo Zucchelli always creates something practical for the man's wardrobe and this collection is not exception.

This collection consists of a lot of essential pieces with high quality materials such as wool, alpaca, silk and leather shearling. It's exciting to see some of the pieces are in metallic colour, as this gives a nice touch to the minimalist collection. If you are a fan of Calvin Klein men's fragrance, then you are going to love the oversized sweat shirts, as each of them is embroidered with the title of a cologne (even using the fonts). For me, my favourite pieces are the bomber, the boots and the black tuxedo.

- The metallic pieces are a big surprise in this minimalist collection.
- I like the fit of many of the pieces. They are very well tailored.
- The black tuxedo is something I want to own this coming season.
- The sweat shirt with the word on it is a fun piece if you are familiar with the Calvin Klein's colognes.
