Picture Perfect: Fusion Six - Rebellious Squad - Christopher Turner & Sabrina Maddeaux

Now that you have a clear concept of this project, it's time for me to introduce you the first 2 members - Christopher Turner & Sabrian Maddeaux. I have known them the longest in this group and they both are major players in the Toronto fashion industry. In my world, the squad would not be complete without these 2 talents.

Christopher Turner

Chris and I became friends because of a pair of limited edition adidas sneakers. I am very fortunate to call him my mentor and he is always the first person I go to when I am stuck. His words of wisdom are like magic spells, as they always help me to see things differently. Without him, I would not be able to accomplish so many things in the past few years. He has always been on my list ever since I had the shoot idea in 2012. Words cannot express how happy I am to have him in this shoot! Dreams do come true! ” - Marcus

Inspiration of the shirt & sneakers:
"To be honest I’m not a DIYer… so it took me awhile to figure out how I was going to tackle this project. In the end I looked to Maison Margiela for a little inspiration and took a multicoloured paint splatter approach to my T-shirt and Chucks." - Christopher

Sabrina Madddaux

“I have known Sabrina since 2010 and always find this person to be very special. I admire her fearless attitude and her articles constantly represent the voice of many people in this industry. I am very glad to call her as a friend and know she will continue to inspire me in many different ways. On a side note, the project title “Rebellious Squad” is actually inspired by her.” - Marcus

Inspiration of the shirt & sneakers:
"I wrote the word "truth" inside a heart because I think it's important to speak, write and create with honesty. A lot of what goes on in the fashion world - and greater world - if full of pretense and falsities. If you're someone who cares about change, you need to fight against that even when it's not easy to do so. I try to keep this in mind whenever I write.

I'm not a great artist, so I knew I had to keep my shoe design relatively simple. I attempted to imitate stitches on the shoes to represent the hard work and labour that goes into designing and making clothes, whether items are handmade locally or in a factory overseas. When making choices about what to buy, it's important to look beyond the price tag and remember the people behind the labels." -Sabrina
