Art[s]ense: Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2014 Illustration Project Part 1

The new Dolce & Gabbana illustration project is finally here and here is the part 1 of it!

For this series, I asked Connie Lim, Peter McNierney and Alex Vándor to each create an illustration based on the red pieces from the collection. The result is amazing, as each artist captures a very different vibe of the collection.

[On]Air: Decked Out: Fashion Playing Cards

I have constantly featured Connie Lim's works on both this site and Draw A Dot., and today, I hope you can support her latest personal project.

If you are a fan of Connie's works, you should know that she has been developing the playing cards series in the past few years. Good news is, the deck is more than 80% complete and now she is planning to make these illustrations into physical playing cards. Here is how you can help out.

Connie has just launched a Kickstarter campaign and will require $10,000 to create 10000 decks of cards. The things you can get by sponsoring this project include postcards, signed prints, tote bags and of course, the deck of cards. I always believe in this artist so I really hope she can turn this dream into reality.

I am always a huge fan of Connie Lim and for this Fall/Winter season, I have once again invited her to participate the illustration project I curated for Swide. Art[s]ense: A Year In Review - 2011

Before I start anything new this year, I just want to take a moment and talk about my experience at Swide.

2011 was an interesting year for me as I was lucky to have the chance to write for Dolce & Gabbana's Swide online magazine. I have been a contributor for the magazine for almost a year now and almost every week I introduced a talented fashion photographer/illustrator to the international audience. It was quite a journey for me and I was (and still am) fortunate to be able to discover so many talented artists around the world. I have to admit, this is a true blessing for me to be surrounded by so many wonderful people and I cannot thank enough the Swide team for making my writing job so fun!

This year I will continue to be a writer for the magazine and you will continue to see some awesome art works by different illustrators/ photographers around the world. I promise you the quality of these artists will just get better! Below is a little taste of who I have featured in the past year.

It's another week so it is time for me to let you know what I have in store for you on Swide.

This week, I am featuring a very talented fashion illustrator named Connie Lim. Her dark and edgy works have totally captured my attention and I will never grow tired of seeing them. Not only is she an illustrator, but she is also a fashion designer as well. I do recommend you read this entry and also visit her website.
