Walk the Walk: UNTTLD F/W 2016 Collection

While most of my energy is concentrating on Draw A Dot. this week, I did have a chance to attend a few shows during Toronto Fashion Week and UNTTLD is one of my favourites.

José Manuel St-Jacquesand and Simon Bélanger blew me away with their S/S 2013 collection when I was an audience few years ago (that metallic gown still has a special spot in my mind). On Tuesday, the duo presented the F/W 2016 collection, the first collection after they won the Mercedes-Benz Start Up in October 2015. The clothes continue to have a strong oriental vibe (think of kimono) and I am in love with the gold chain accents on the final few pieces. The designers stick to olive green, black, and gold as the colour palette to give the UNTTLD women a mysterious vibe. If ladies are looking for bold and edgy, but wearable pieces, then I recommend you keep an eye on this brand.

José Manuel St-Jacquesand and Simon Bélanger, I hope I will see you again next season at Toronto Fashion Week!

Walk the Walk: Valentino F/W 2016 Collection

It's a ballerina dream at the Valentino F/W 2016 show yesterday and Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli showed us the meaning of timeless fashion.

This collection has a lot of interesting elements such as the graphics, the velvet, the military and of course the balleriana aspect. Even though the silhouettes are very similar to the previous seasons, the colour palette is paler than before. There are quite a number of beautiful nude gowns and the graphic prints are not as loud as the pre-fall 2016 collection. What stays is the romantic vibe and the haute couture construction aspect of the garments. To me, this colletion is a repsonse to the siutation of the current fashion industry: whatever you pick in this collection, you can gurantee wear it for a very long time.

I personally am a fan of this collection and would want to know what you think of it.

Walk the Walk: Marc Jacobs F/W 2016 Collection

Not going to lie, I was a bit bored by the New York Fashion Week this season. Most of the brands are playing very safe and create pieces that are not too inspiring. However, Marc Jacobs' collection gives us hope again as he did put on a great show on the last day of NYFW!

This collection is dark and has a very strong gothic vibe. The foot high platforms is definitely the item of the night, but the clothing is also very strong and reminds the fans some of his past collections. Most of the pieces are oversized with great embellished details such as feathers and sequins. Also, can we talk about the eye makeup and the ’20s finger waves? They totally help to elevate the visual effect of the runway show.

Walk the Walk: Valentino F/W 2016 Menswear Collection

As many of you know, I am a huge music fan so I can relate to this Valentino F/W 2016 collection.

Maria Grazia Chiuri & Pierpaolo Piccioli take inspirations from the music world and create a collection to show the characters of each type of music fan. From Rock And Roll fans to Bohemium Folk Song singers, every man can definitely relate to some of the pieces here. The creative directors also revisit some of the past seasons' elements such as geometric pattern and camo to give a fashion twist to these music fans. As a fan of checkered tartan, I am totally in love with the last 3 suits of this collection.

Now I am very curious to see if musicians will become the face of this F/W campaign. Time will tell.

Pros:
- Love the tailoring of the jackets! The long coat is a must have next season!
- The collection is very close to my heart because it represents different genres of music and I am a huge music fan.
- The accessories are very on point this season.
- I always have a thing for checkered tartan so the last 3 suits are totally my cup of tea.
- Looks like the straight leg jeans is on trend again!

Eye Candies:
- Black jacket suit with customized embellishments
- Red checkered tartan suit
- Trench coat with black straps on shoulder
- Geometric pattern cape
- Shoes

Walk the Walk: Calvin Klein Collection F/W 2016 Menswear

Italo Zucchelli presented the F/W 2016 Calvin Klein Collection Menswear yesterday and it was a fun collection.

For this season, Italo is concentrated on the outerwear and there are a lot of great long coats. As a person who loves metallic, I cannot help but to have my eyes fixed on the metallic shoes and bombers. Because of the neutral colour palette, this collection goes very well with many pieces in a man's wardrobe.

I havea a strong feeling you will see a lot of the metallic pieces in editoerials in the up coming season since they will look absolutely stunning in photos.

What do you think?

Pros:
- The colour palette (black, nude, white, silver and gold) is versatile and works for everything in a man's wardrobe.
- I like the selection of the jackets. There is definitely something for everyone (from short to tall).
- Anything metallic immediately catches my eyes and I am in love with the metallic bombers and the silver shoes.

Eye Candies:
- Metallic Bomber
- Metallic shoes
- Black long coat
- Camel long coat
- White jeans with gold metallic accent
