Wave of Inspirology: Björk Guðmundsdóttir Part 1

I really only got into Björk this past summer. For those in the know, she's from Iceland, was a part of the Sugarcubes, has a trademark singing style soprano voice punctuated by howls, shrieks, and jabberwocky. She's also kinda weird, but that's all relative. In general, I really admire her creative authenticity.

The year 2000/2001 saw Björk win the Palme d'Or along with the Best Actress award at the 53rd Cannes Film Festival for the Lars Von Trier movie Dancer in the Dark. Her first time acting!

The song "I've Seen It All", with Thom Yorke (Radiohead), was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song.

Taking the piss out of the whole situation, at how riciulous it was for her to be at the Academy Awards, Björk showed up in the infamous swan dress with a clutch full of large white eggs she would periodically drop along the red carpet.  There have been lots of funny Björk parodies since, check them out!

Here is Björk performing 'Backelorette' Live @ Fashion Rocks 2003, introducing Alexander Mcqueen.  She has her face studded with diamonds/crystals.
