Walk the Walk: Prada S/S 2014 Collection

Miuccia Prada presented the S/S 2014 Prada yesterday in Milan and let me just say, the Prada girls are very rebellious next season.

The is probably the most unusual Prada collection I have seen in years. Unlike the previous seasons, this one contains a very strong urban vibe and the girls are very bold and sassy. These girls don't follow any fashion rules and they just put on whatever they think will boost up their confidence level (take for example, they will wear the bra top on top of a dress). Many of the pieces are inspired by different cultures from around the world (Brazil, India, Mexico) and the footwear design is a fusion of classic meets technology. Of course, how can I not love the illustrations in this collection? I just think they are very beautiful and if I can have the original version of these pieces, I would post them on Draw A Dot. right the way.

For those of you who have watched the live stream, you should know that there was actually an art exhibition during the runway show. Prada invited muralists Miles “El Mac” Gregor, Mesa, Gabriel Specter, and Stinkfish, and illustrators Jeanne Detallante and Pierre Mornet to work on a collaboration project called “In the Heart of the Multitude”. This project is inspired by the political wall art from Mexican muralists and the statement behind it is to show the themes of femininity, representation, power, and multiplicity. As an art lover, the art works are beautiful and I recommend you to visit this link to learn more about this project.

After looking at this runway show, I can guarantee you no one can do ugly chic as good as Miuccia Prada right now and this collection has just brought Prada to a whole new level.

Pros:
- I love the illustrations in this collection, they are brilliant
- The accessories are beautiful, especially the bangles. My friend has an interesting way to describe them, they call them the "Prada's arm electronic dance music Festival".
- I find the bra top design on some of the pieces to be very interesting. This should be consider as teh ugly chic.
- the general vibe is very urban, which is very unusual from the brand. I could have never thought Miucci could have a collection like this.
- The tube socks add a unique urban touch to the collection

Cons:
- None

Eye Candies:
- The graphic dresses
- The bangles
- The bra top long coat
- The graphic coat
- The techno heels

  1. I only adore Prada when it can actually be physically available. I always need Prada to marinate and then I can enjoy said designer.
