Knight of Dusk: Jason Howlett

Jason Howlett, a person you will not miss if you live in Toronto and attend a lot of fashion related events. We have a chance to meet him during FAT and instantly we feel like we need to do a shoot with him. He has posted a lot of photos on Facebook but for some reasons, we feel like he has another side that no one has ever dared to explore: the softer side of him. We have spent a day with him in High Park and we are so excited to show you the results here!

We like Jason, not only because he is a fun person to hang around, but he is also willing to try new poses to make this shoot a memorable one for us to remember. Jason, we definitely have found the other side of you!

Icon: The Grass Nerds

Back in March month, we have showcased our first online exhibit (Fashion Through Your Eyes) and the response to it is great. Many people have asked us about the photos we pose behind the grasses with the green glasses on and today we decide to show you the whole set of it.

We think it is fun to see everyone doing something different in the same set with the same prop. We are hoping in the near future we can do more fun things like this.

Trendology: Gotstyle with Ted Baker and more!

For those of you who have been following Gotstyle blog must know that the blog is broken down sometime ago. Today, they have finally relaunched the blog so now you do not have to panic anymore.

Approximately 2 week ago, I am honored to be invited by Reggie to go to the store and see the latest collection from Ted Baker. I am also lucky that I have Adam with me that day so I can do a photo shoot right on the spot. I am definitely attracted to some of the shirts from the Ted Baker collection especially the colorful plaid pattern shirt (remember, I am a plaid pattern fan). Also, the details in these shirts are so amazing that I recommend all the guys whom are going to buy them to make sure to show your inner sleeves because there are some nice patterns there.

Speaking of Ted Baker, I also have my eyes on the gradient green to white polo shirt. I think it looks amazing on Adam and the color is very refreshing! If you are a blazer guy, I am sure you will want to get the cotton blazer because it looks unique and greyish cotton blazer is always hard to find.

Before I am going to talk more about other brand, let me just show you the Ted Baker collection first.

After we have tried on the Ted Baker collection, Reggie has given me a very good suggestion: he wants Adam to try on a Tombolini suit. I have to say that suit makes Adam looks very sharp and classy. We decide to take this photo in the salon area and this photo just reminds me of the people in Mad Man.

Suit: Tombolini
Shirt: Gotstyle private label
Tie: Altea
Shoes: Vero Luca

After this, by the time we are planning to wrap this up, we are all staring at the dead deer head and the Gotstyle team just have the idea of making Adam into the Tom Sawyer character. I cannot believe a deer horn knife does exist in the world! I have to say, I love this image a lot. (The clothes and the model just make the photo looks flawless, oh, and the deer head too!)

Shirt: Alternative Apparel
Jeans: Mek
Hat: Hanna Hats
Knife: 18 Waits

After this final look, the shoot is over and we are so happy with the photos. To the Gotstyle team, thank you so much for letting me come over to the store and do some shoots for the new collections! Without the help from you guys, I don't think Adam and I will create a great shoot!

If you want to buy any clothes that are mentioned in this entry, hurry up and head to Gotstyle as soon as possible. The address for the shop is 489 King Street West. Trust me, these products will be gone in no time, so you better take action now! Also, make sure you check their blog! It's back on!

Icon: Fashion Through Your Eyes - Adam Bonczak

This is our 2nd and last knight for this online exhibit. His name is Adam Bonczak and from what we know, he is an aspiring actor. We have to say just like his sister Monica, he does have the look to be a great actor/model.

In his own words, this is what he thinks of fashion.

"Being whatever it is that you want to be, feeling a sense of empowerment but also comfort in knowing that you possess an undeniable confidence. The notion that one’s style comes from within and is manifested on the outside in the form of shoes, socks, pants, dress and shirt, scarf. To be you and flaunting it...that is fashion. "

Icon: Fashion Through Your Eyes - Ryan Joseph Whitehead

We finally have a knight in this series and his name is Ryan Joseph Whitehead. He is currently a student in York University and also a member of the à la mode team. We really like him to be around to give models the direction on how to pose.

On how he views fashion, this is what he has for us:

"The way I see fashion is clothes used as an extension to precieve someone's personality. My style is a lot like a business casual. I like to wear dress shirts, with a video game or comic book t-shirt underneath with jeans. What does that tell you about my personality?"

[Re]Visit: It's My Time for Shane Coleman

You may not have met this knight yet but Shane is definitely a good candidate for the Benetton campaign. He is actually the King of Hearts in our photography exhibit (Read'em and Weep) back in October 2009. He definitely needs your vote so if you like him, please click here and give him a vote.

Evolution: The Jeans Campaign Part 1

Back in November, we have done a concept shoot related to jeans. We are so lucky to have such a perfect crew to work with this time and we cannot thank them enough for how amazing they are. The makeup crew, hairstylist, stylist, our dames and knights have done more than what we have expected and the result of the photos is absolutely stunning!

At this moment, we cannot give out too much details because we are still working on a proposal but what we can show you right now are some of the solo photos. Enjoy and let us know what you think of the photos.

Knight of Dusk: Edris

This time, our Knight of Dusk is more than a model you see here. Back in November, Marcus, our photographer is lucky enough to get a chance to shoot one of the talented photographers in Toronto. His name is Edris and he is a fashion, wedding and event photographer. Since he needs to re-design his website, he asks Marcus to go over to his studio and takes some photos for him for the site.

According to Marcus, he says they try out a lot of different light settings to achieve different effects. The photos that we are showing here are from Marcus' vision which he wants to create the photos with a touch of GQ style. We are so honored we have this chance to work with a very talented photographer.

If you want to see more of Edris' photos, you should take a look at his website. Inside that site, you will also see some of the modeling photos he take for the models and we like them a lot. His website is on our left side bar or you can click here.

All photos are taken by Marcus Kan.

Knight of Dusk: Jesse Boersema

We are fortunate enough to be able to do a few photo shoot with this knight. Originally from Alberta, Jesse Boersema comes to Toronto about a year ago to continue his dream as a model. When we first get to meet him, he is a very tall guy, with a pair of clear blue eyes.

What we really like about him is his personality. He is an easy going person and is willing to try different things. He is also very professional when he is working with other models. With his look, you can transform him into a high fashion model easily.

At this moment, he is under Nam modeling agency and we wish this knight a bright future in the battlefield!

Here are some of our best photos of him.

The Knights and The Dames

If you have seen our logo, you should have noticed that it is made up of black, white and pink. Each of these colors does represent something to our group and in this entry, let's talk about black and white.

Black and White are like pairs, they cannot be separated in our definition. They each represents dark or bright, ying or yang and of course, male or female. To us, we also want to associate words with male and female models because we don't like ordinary words; therefore, we come out with knights and dames to represent each gender. Further more, since we associate black to male and white to female, the result will become :

Black = Man = Knight
White = Woman = Dame

The reason why we choose the words Knight and Dame is because these models are fighters in the modeling industry. We know that because they are passionate about their jobs and will fight hard for their futures. In our definition, we are their add-on armors. With our photography, directing, styling, make up and hair dressing skills, we will customize their flawless armors for them to fight in the battlefield. For the knights, we call them the Knights of Dusk because they first are associated with the color black, but also our style for them will be more gloomy but still look cool. As for the dames, we call them Dames of Virtue because we tend to give them a more glamour and bright feeling (and of course, they are associated to white). Regardless of which side you are on, we will explore your other persona and let you have the appropriate attitude for your battleground (and yes, those definitions are just guidelines, they are meant to be broken!).

Sounds complicated? Let's translate the above paragraph into our everyday language. Basically, once you pay us for a photoshoot, we will do our best to capture your best model look and possibly find another side you have never realized before. BUT, that doesn't stop right here. We will keep you on record and whenever we have a concept shoot or exhibition shoot we are going to develop, if we believe your look fits one of the characters, we are going to approach you and ask you to be on board with us. We will pay all the rents and we are basically giving you a FREE shoot so you will have photos for your portfolio. If those shoots will turn out to be some advertising campaign and stuff, we will definitely pay your share. In the end, we want to get your name out there too!

For those of you who have read till here, may your passionate spirit help you reach your goal! Good Luck and feel free to approach us.
