Dots[Connection]: The Originals

It's always a pleasure to work with Cristian Grossi and for this original series, we have travled back to the 80s and 90s era to look at some of our favourite manga characters. In this series, we are going to look at the Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci archives and pick out the significant elements from some of the collections. If you are a Prada fan, you must be excited for The Great Gatsby. Why? Because Miuccia Prada is part of this production and she has collaborated with Catherine Martin to create over 40 outfits for the movie. All I can say is, the illustrations are wonderful! [Read Here]

Art[s]ense: Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2013 Illustration Project Part 2

2 weeks ago, I told you about Part 1 of Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2013 illustration project and today, Swide has published the 2nd part of it (2 more to go!). This time, it is all about the abstract prospective of this collection and I have invited 2 illustrators, Cristian Grossi and Alicia Haberman, to each work on  an art piece.

Throughout these years, I have been introducing different illustrators and their works to you and I am sure you have your favourites. Back in the days, I did want to show you more of their works but some of the times they didn't have enough images for an entry. Because of that, starting from now, I am going to have a weekly section to showcase works by some of the illustrators I have featured before on here or/and on Swide.

Roberto Sanchez

Just like Roberto, when I think of Alexander McQueen, the 2 feather pieces from F/W 2009 collection will always come into mind. I think these 2 pieces Roberto illustrated can reflect the playfulness of the clothing pieces.

Cirque de papier

Comme des Garçons F/W 2012 is a very cool collection as the clothes are in 2D form. Juni is wearing one of my favourite dresses from this collection and she looks so cute in it. 

J.Larkowsky

 It's a given that J.Larkowsky's illustrations always excite me. This time, he has illustrated the Alexander McQueen S/S 2007 collection and I really love the details of this dress.

Spiros Halaris

Spiros has recently illustrated this piece featuring Prada's S/S 2013 collection. While I am still not a big fan of this collection, I can see why illustrators are in love with it because there are so many creative ideas they can do to enhance the collection.

Sunny Gu

A very playful illustration by Sunny Gu. I love the Moschino S/S 2013 piece and also, the flowers that create the dress. This makes me think of summer and I can't wait for it to come back.

Cristian Grossi

Cristian has just created some Christmas ornaments for people to download and I love them very much. They are whimsical and contain the aesthetic of Cristian's illustration style. You can click here to download the ornaments!

This is simply brilliant!

Jesus as a Flower

This series is illustrated by Cristian Grossi and he interprets Maria Maddaiena, Jesus, Joseph, Maria and Madreperla in abstract floral forms. The images are beautiful, cool and refreshing. If you take a close look at Maria as a Flower, you will the feminine figure, which I think is a very cool concept.

June & July 2012 Memories

We are currently enjoying our summer so we are actually slowing down at the moment. However, in June and July, we still have created some interesting entries for you to enjoy.

This month on [Un]Discovers, we have Maruka Caleis, a great illustrator who likes to use photos to complete her works. Also, we have Tara Krebs, a great illustrator whose works have amazed us. We believe fantasy is what made us love illustration and Tara's works are all about this element!

As for Swide, in June we have the amazing Malika Favre. Her works are in minimalist form but her contents are way more provocative than you could imagine. Jolene Lai is another great illustrator which we really like the girls she created in her works. Trust us, you will want to know more about them when you look at her works.

In July, we have Cristian Grossi, a great illustrator, and also a texture designer. We cannot get enough of his style as it is very simple, but haunting. Victor Castillo is a great painter and let us warn you, this interview is very personal and we believe this is one of our best features we have done to date on Swide.

Minimalist has become a very popular illustration style recently and Cristian Grossi is definitely one of the masters of this style. His works are very clean and neat, yet there is something mysterious about the girls he illustrated.
