Exhibition: Alexander Wang x H&M Fashion Illustrations

November 6th, 2014 marks the release of the Alexander Wang x H&M collection. Instead of showing you the look book images, Draw A Dot. has teamed up with H&M Canada for a special illustration open call. Within 2 weeks, we received many great submissions, and below are the favourites picked by H&M Canada.

Dots[Connection]: New York Fashion Week

Today is the last day of New York Fashion Week and in the past few days, I have featured a few NYFW illustrations on Draw A Dot.. Now let's take a look at some of them.

Candybird, an illustrator based in France, is invited to contribute some fashion illustrations to SHOWstudio during the NYFW period. Her illustrations are so whimsical and I can't get enough of this Marc by Marc Jacobs look. [Read Here]

Have you imagined putting the Herve Leger girl next to the Alexander Wang girl and let them have a boxing match? Well, Achraf Amiri has turned this idea into illustration and I find it quite amusing. Where is round 2? [Read Here]

Graphicology: S/S 2013 Illustrations by Caroline Andrieu

I have been going through some portfolios lately and Caroline Andrieu's blog has really caught my eyes.

Prada S/S 2013 

Andrieu is really good at illustrating the texture of the fabrics. The images are very realistic and I like the fact that she is only focusing on a certain part of the runway look. At this moment, I can only find 3 illustrations she did on the S/S 2013 collection but I am sure in the next couple of months, she will be posting more on her blog. The Prada one, by the way, is my favourite so far.

Walk the Walk: Alexander Wang F/W 2011 Collection

Black is back for Alexander Wang in this F/W collection. The collection still maintains a very playful and causal vibe but you can definitely see his design skill is evolving. The big coat with fur collar and fur sunglasses are two of the main signature pieces from this collection.

Pros:
- The collection is very solid.
- I like how he uses multiple materials on the pieces, they become very chic and trendy.
- I like the splash of yellow on one of the pieces.
- The whole collection is very playful and futuristic, yet, the pieces are highly wearable.

Cons:
- Not a fan of those furry heels.
- The last few gowns do not work for me, I wish the bottom were not split into that many stripes.

Eye Candies:
- The cashmere satin cape
- Furry glasses
- Coat with big furry collar
- The white coat with yellow lining

Trendology: Style X Shirts Revealed

As I have told you before, Style.com has teamed up with 10 fashion houses to design 10 limited edition shirts and now the final products are finally revealed! My favorite pieces will be Givenchy, Lanvin, Christopher Kane and Prada. Each shirt has only produced 400 pieces so if you are not in New York or Paris (Colette), you should buy it online at Style X tomorrow!

Trendology: Alexander Wang S/S 2011

White is the new black!

Unlike his previous collections, in this S/S 2011 season, Alexander Wang has decided to give up on the black and replaces the color with white, metallic-ish pastel colors. To me, the whole collection is very structural and the doodling pattern has made the clothes look very urban and tribal like. What I like about this collection is the splash of rose gold paint on some of the pieces which the paint is meant to associate with the duct tape concept.

It's very nice to see Alexander Wang has made such a great change and I believe his F/W 2011 collection will continue to blow our mind away.

Trendology: Alexander Wang Isis Quilted Frame Clutch

Alexander Wang has been a hit lately and I have my eyes on this quilted leather clutch by him.  This beautiful clutch has abstract quilted pattern featuring a ribbed bar clasp and brushed brass hardware.  It's stylish and elegant, and it doesn't seem like it'll run out of style.  It's perfect for a causal night out or an evening event.  It doesn't ask for too much attention but it's there for a stylish purpose.  A detachable chain shoulder strap also comes with the clutch, so there it's another way of carrying it. Perfect.
