Object of Desire: Converse Chuck Taylor II Gum

During this winter season, I have been wearing the Converse Chuck Taylor II Boot to keep my feet warm and dry (thanks to the neoprene insulation). Now that spring is almost upon us, it's time for me to go back to the lighter sneakers!

Converse has just released the Chuck Taylor All Star II Gum collection. What I like the most about this new sneaker is the gum rubber toe cap and sidewall, as this element adds a special touch to the normal Chuck Taylor design! Aside from the Nike Lunarlon sockliner, then new micro suede lining makes the sneaker more comfortable to wear.

To all my readers who live in Canada, you can now get a pair of this new sneakers at Foot Locker, Hudson's Bay, Little Burgundy and Sport Chek! This style comes in black, white, herbal and obsidian.

#stmSnippet: Walk A Milton Mile

I don’t know what it is about French Canadian women, but they often have an amazing energy. Brigitte Foisy is a spark plug in the Canadian PR world with her various businesses which have all grown and adapted over the years. (She claims she started her second business when she was 15 mounting fashion shows in bars!)

She has a staff but refuses to say they work for her, informing me instead “we all work together.” She is a team player and encourages them to go after their dreams, to the point where she admits to directing one of her best team members to cut back on their work with her and set aside more time for other interests.

To see more photos, read the full #stmAPPROVED and discover why you need to buy a pair of Miltons before July 31st, click here.

Object of Desire: Adidas by Jeremy Scott - JS Wing 3.0 Faux Leather Sneakers

Finally, I have found the perfect pair of wings from Jeremy Scott!

Jeremy Scott continues to work with Adidas for this S/S 2015 season and he is giving the iconic wing sneakers an update. The wings have become very abstract and they look like flames coming out from the sneakers. Gold is a perfect colour for this design because it screams outrageous and fun!

This pair of "wings" is now available at LuisaViaRoma! Get on it fast!

Object of Desire: Blanc de Noir Footwear Kickstarter Campaign

Last October at Toronto Fashion Week, I had the pleasure of discovering Blanc de Noir, a unisex clothing and accessories brand. Recently, the designers of Blanc de Noir released a Kickstarter campaign for their leather shoes. Fashion lovers, especially quality shoe collectors are sure to be interested in this opportunity to support a startup brand.

Blanc de Noir is going to produce 3 unisex shoe styles, all made in Lima, Peru. For this campaign the designers require $15,000 to start the production, with 60 pairs per style. As of this moment, they have already raised over $6500! To support this campaign click here now. Every level of support comes with a thank-you reward (from leather card holders, all the way to  shoes!).

If you had your pick, which pair of Blanc de Noir shoes would you add to your shoe collection?

Object of Desire: Dressing for Valentine's Day Date Night

OK gents, with the big day around the corner... Actually it is right in front of us at this point, it is time to talk key wardrobe elements for Valentine's Day date night.

Let’s keep it simple and classic this year. Whether you stay in and entertain your loved one at home or bring them out to the cineplex to take in an Oscar nominated flick, these no fuss, must have items will help you freshen up your style for the big night. Remember a little effort goes a long way. Read on to find our Valentine’s Day dressing suggestions and what wearing them will tell her. Oh and if she wants to know what to get you for a V-Day gift, just send her this post and tell her it’s a gift guide.

First up the sweater. That pesky groundhog seems to like the cold and has ordered up a wintry February, so make sure you have a warm one. Don’t worry, she can peel it off you later. Keeping with the colour scheme of Valentine’s Day we love these red toned sweaters from retailer Tristan.

Left -  “I’m taking you to your fav casual candle lit restaurant.”

Centre  - “Hey sexy, I want to kiss all night.” (insert mischievous smile.)

Right - “Hey hun, I’m ready for whatever you want to do. Tonight is all about you. Let me grab your coat.”

Bonus, they are ALL on sale. Hit them up in store or online here.

Next up are your shoes. It is a known fact that women check out a man’s shoes the same way a man checks out a woman’s… smile. Either of these pairs from Ecco will help you step out for the evening on the right foot.

Top – “I’m going to be your urban prince charming tonight and I look forward to eventually meeting your mother. When is she in town next?”

Bottom – “You, me, that pizza place around the corner we keep meaning to try and all your favourite toppings. Then back here to watch your favourite chick flick. PS, I brought you a cupcake.”

Don’t forget to add pops of colour and bring a little extra power. Express has the perfect accessories to finish off your look. From socks, to watches and even portable power cards. They have you set.

Socks – “What, you thought I was going to wear boring black socks? No way hun! I know what I'm doing here.”

Watch – “I’m going to be on time and I’m feeling a little funky. Hey scrap the movie, let's go skating at city hall and hit up the modern art exhibition at the gallery.”

Ultra Thin Power Card – “Damn, you look extra gorgeous tonight. Let’s take a thousand selfies. I want the world to know you’re all mine.”

Finally, we don’t know about you, but we do wear our sunglasses at night. OK well maybe not really. Grab a pair of these Leisure Society sunglasses from Josephson Opticians for Saturday morning when you run out to Starbucks to grab her frappa cappa mocha whatever before she wakes up. Just make sure you leave a cute note on the pillow so she knows where you have gone.

Top – “I’m feeling cool and confident and here comes my secret move.”

Middle – “I’m kinda bad ass. Well you let me pretend I am.”

Bottom – “Your killer sense of style is rubbing off on me.”

Happy Valentine’s Day gentlemen. Make Friday night special for her, because she makes every other day of the year special for you.

Trendology: Cole Haan Black Patent LunarGrand

As a fan of Cole Haan, I am pretty much on cloud 9 right now. Why? Because I can finally get a pair of comfy formal shoes.

After so many seasons, Cole Haan has finally released the black patent LunarGrand. It comes in 2 designs and I am specifically attracted to the wingtip version. If you have already owned a pair of LunarGrand, then you probably will understand the beauty of the Nike Lunarlon Technology in this particular shoe line.

You can now purchase these 2 items on Cole Haan online store. Rejoice!

Trendology: Puma x Mihara Yasuhiro Black White My-72 Shoes

When I was in Hong Kong this early April, I had the chance to see this pair of sneakers in real life. Honestly, it has been haunting me ever since.

This pair of sneakers is a collaboration between Puma and Mihara Yasuhiro. It looks like a dress shoes, but with a very interesting twist! If you are born in the 80s, you should remember the Puma disc lace system (first introduced in 1991), which was a big innovation at that time. This dress shoes + disc lace system combination is refreshing and when I saw it in real life, it was not tacky at all.

Currently, there is only one size left on Oki-ni. You might want to get it before it is all gone!

Trendology: Dsquared² Blue Camouflage Paneled 551 High-Top Sneakers

Without a doubt, camouflage is in. Last week I scored myself a Valentino neon camo tie, and this week, my eyes are on this pair of bad boys.

This pair of high top sneakers is from Dsquared².  I like the colour combination of the camouflage pattern and the design at the back is pretty edgy. Of course, if you are a Canadian, you will love the maple leaf symbol at the tongue area.

The product is now available at Ssense.

Trendology: Carven White & Blue Canvas Check Low Top Sneakers

I have been under the Carven magic spell for quite some time now because of the brand's subtle design twist. Recently, I came across this pair of awesome sneakers and immediately put it on my wish list.

The sneakers are from the S/S 2014 collection. I really like the blue graphic windowpane check print because it looks like it is painted by hand. The color combination is great as it will work well with many outfits in your wardrobe.

This product is now available at Ssense.

Trendology: Marsèll Black & White Polka Dots Derbys

For some very mysterious reasons, I am recently addicted to polka dots. I love to see anything with this pattern on it, just like this pair of Marsèll Derbys.

The white polka dots turn an ordinary design into something special. I especially like the faded effect as it gives the hand paint illusion to the audience. Without a doubt, I can totally see myself owning this pair of fun shoes.

You can now purchase it at Ssense.

Trendology: Alexander McQueen Skull & Lace High-Top Sneakers

Skull & lace is the major element in the Alexander McQueen S/S 2014 menswear collection, and the design team has converted this design into a nice print to produce some amazing products. This pair of sneakers is one of them.

I like the combination of skull and lace, as these 2 elements create a very interesting contrast (bold vs soft). The skulls are very eye catchy here and the lace print helps to tone down the aggressive vibe of the sneakers a little bit. Overall, I am in love with this product and hoping to get a pair soon.

You can now purchase this pair of sneakers at Ssense.

Trendology: Valentino Black Patent Leather Buckled Stud Boots

A pair of black boots is always important for a man's wardrobe because it sometimes helps to add an edgy attitude to your outfit. For this season, this pair of Valentino has completely caught my eyes!

I personally like subtle details and in here, you can see the rubber studs at the heel and a zipper on one side of the boot. The monk strap at the collar also adds a very funky element to the design. If you are looking for a pair of awesome boots for this season, then this one will most likely be on your wishlist.

It is now available at Ssense.

Trendology: Dolce & Gabbana F/W 2013 Sicily Large Embroidered Tote

One of my favourite bags from this season for women is this Dolce & Gabbana tote. Why? Because it has some of the major elements from this collection!

I immediately fell in love with this bag when I first saw it in the runway image. It has the mosaic element, the crown, and the religious theme, which reflects the overall theme of this collection. I love the embellishments as they enhance the look of the handbag.

Currently this tote is available at Net A Porter, so hurry up and get one before it is all sold out!

Trendology: KRISVANASSCHE Blue Leather & Suede Derby Sneaker Hybrids

Are you ready for a pair of hybrid shoes? If so, take a look at this!

This pair of interesting shoes is from the latest collection KRISVANASSCHE. It's a fusion of derby and sneaker and I just find it to be very interesting. This might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it definitely will be a talking piece if you wear it at an event.

This product is now available at Ssense.

Trendology: Alexander McQueen F/W 2013 Studded Toe Tone Calfskin Boots

I remember when I first looked at the Alexander McQueen F/W 2013 runway images, the boots were one of my favourite accessories of the season. Now for the ready to wear collection, the design team has stripped down the runway piece and produced a more "user friendly" version for the consumers.

Silver leather is used on the front and back to make the boot look like an armour piece. I like the decorative studs because they make the design look more expensive. Overall, I think it is a very edgy product, so if you want to spice up your wardrobe this season, make sure you head over to Luisaviaroma to purchase it!
