Fashionist[On The Go]: Target x Neiman Marcus x CFDA

There were 2 awesome stories I found on the Fashionist this week! Let's start with this one...

This was such an unexpected news when I first read it. Target and Neiman Marcus are going to work together to create a capsule collection featuring 24 CFDA designers. Some of the brands include Altuzarra, Jason Wu, Rag & Bone, Marc Jacobs, Thom Browne and Rodarte. The collection will be in store and online on December 1! [Read Here]

Lea Michele has shot a new campaign for Candie's and I love it! This is the second campaign she has done for this brand and I really like the bubble gum pop vibe of it. What do you think? [Read Here]

Walk the Walk: Jason Wu F/W 2012 Collection

Jason Wu did it again!

Wu is one of the designers I have on my radar when it comes to New York Fashion Week and I am very glad he puts on a fabulous show. From what I have seen in this collection, Wu definitely has spent a lot of time to do research on the Chinese culture as you can see there are Chinese elements everywhere. I really like how he modifies the classic Chinese dress in to something very modern and edgy. The gold embroidery element is always very important to the Chinese culture and it is amazed to see how Wu applies it on the jackets and gowns. Words cannot really describe how beautiful this collection is so you should take a look at the pictures yourself and be prepared to see them all over red carpets this coming season.

Pros:
- Red, military green, black and gold, this is the perfect colour combination for a Chinese culture inspired collection.
- From Chinese royalty looks to modern military looks, this collection captures the essence of the Chinese historic culture.
- The fur element has given a kick to the collection.
- I love the details of the pieces, such as  the buttons, round collar, hats.

Cons:
- The crepe skirt does not really work for me in this show.

Eye Candies:
- Black gown with gold embroidery
- Black jacket with gold embroidery
- Red gown
- Military green leather trench dress

Trendology: Jason Wu Pre Fall 2012 Collection

Yeah, you read this right, 2012 pre fall collection is out!

Jason Wu is one of the first few designers to release the photos of the pre fall collection. Unlike the S/S collection, the colour palette for this one is leaning towards a darker tone and the looks are more classic.  Wu is all about details and quality for this seasons so you can see hand-embroidered on evening dresses and also the use of camel hair on the capes. I fairly enjoy this collection and am looking forward to see what Wu will have in store for us this coming F/W season.

Walk the Walk: Jason Wu S/S 2012 Collection

New York fashion week officially started on Thursday but so far, only 1 show had caught my eyes.

Jason Wu presented yet another amazing collection this season. The palette was very refreshing and the use of nylon was a brilliant decision. Also, it was amazing to see Jason collaborated with KAWS for the flower petal print (I personally think this is a very rare combination). Overall, the collection was very solid, artistic and wearable.

Big props to Jason!

Pros:
- It is an amazing idea to collaborate with KAWS in this collection and I really like the flower-petal print!
- The colour palette is very fresh and playful.
- The pieces are wearable and very elegant.
- The beads are enhancing some of the pieces to be more edgy and chic.
- The use of the nylon material is flawless here. The pieces look weightless.

Cons:
- A few pieces remind me of Jil Sander S/S 2011 collection. It's the couture element.

Eye Candies:
- Flower-pedal print one piece skirt
- The yellow gown
- Pink one piece v-neck dress

Ray of Inspirology: CFDA Portraits by Inez Van Lamsweered and VInoodh Matadin

Such a classy series of black and white portraits!

This black and white series of CFDA portraits is shot by Inez Van Lamseered and VInoodh Matadin. The designers include here are Simon Spurr, Marc Jacobs, Olsen Twins, Jason Wu, Joseph Altuzarra, Arthur Elgort, Eddie Borgo and Alejandro Ingelmo. The photos are very classy and there is always this Inez Van Lamseered and VInoodh Matadi's bold style that will attract you to look at the photos. My favorite photos are Simon Spurr and Marc Jacobs. Walk the Walk: Jason Wu F/W 2011 Collection

For this F/W season, Jason Wu's latest collection continues to give off the retro vibe. The ladies look very elegant and chic on the runway and I am loving the floral prints on many of the pieces. The last fire red gown is a piece I could imagine Michelle Obama would wear in the future. Overall, a very solid and nice collection! Bravo, Jason!

Pros:
- Loving the retro vibe from this collection.
- The detail on the dresses is amazing.
- I really like some of the unisex looks, which show how an independent woman should look like.

Cons:
- Some pieces remind me of Tom Ford and YSL.
- Would love to see a little more color pieces.

Eye Candies:
- Black suit
- White cocktail dress with black floral pattern
- Navy blue coat with gold embellishment

Trendology: Jason Wu Pre Fall 2011

It is Jason Wu's second pre-fall collection, and he's showing his capability in fashion by expanding this 2011 collection twice the size than his first.  In this pre-fall collection, he added a grey tone to his colour palette, making it a very moody collection.  Lace shirt became his favourites, horizontal stripes is also another major elements in here.

Trendology: Jason Wu Spring Ready to Wear 2011

We're loving Jason's Spring RTW collection in NYFW.  There are a few elements that are standing out boldly in the collection - the oversized jabot collar, oversized tweed as 1-piece dress, lace chiffon blouse, striped knit and wide leg trousers. Jason had perfected this collection with these components, they're all very chic, not overly formal as it has a touch of sport tailoring. In terms of the choice of colour, the contrast between the light and the dark worked very well, especially along with the contrasting materials, they all balanced each other out.

Oh, how can I missed the evening line-up? The dresses are fabulous and colourful, yet the materials made the colours seem very subtle.  The colours themselves did not take over the attention from the design and tailoring of the clothes and the dresses.  The evening gowns are also very sophisticated.  Using chiffon and lace for the entire dress, they look weightless on the stage and very feminine.

Last but not least, please don't miss the new shoes and bags collection, they're very chic!

Trendology: Jason Wu Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear

Even though Jason Wu got recognized after Michelle Obama wore his gown during the inauguration night,  the young designer did not stuck with the princess dress style.  The year in New York Fashion Week, he pulled together a great show with short-sleeve jackets, oversize cashmere coats, boxy mohair sweaters, plaid jackets, etc. What makes these pieces standout are the prints on them - cigarette-burn prints, chemical spills, gold leafing prints.  All prints made the collection very experimental but has Jason Wu's own style.  Yet he didn't stuck with princess dress, he of course end the show with some spectacular evening gowns.

Here are some of the pieces that worth a note.
