Walk the Walk: Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2015 Collection
Many designers have released the photos of the pre-fall 2015 collection, and as of this moment, I think Prabal Gurung is one of the strongest among all.
One of the strongest elements in this fashion brand is the designer's use of textiles. In here, beautiful floral prints are back, and they create a nice contrast against the raw brush strokes prints. I am loving the kimono inspired pieces as they are easy to wear and adds a bold attitude to the collection.
To me, this collection has a good mixture of elegant and sporty pieces. I am sure the Prabal Gurung girl will be happy to see the selections hit store next summer.

Picture Perfect: Prabal Gurung F/W 2014 Campaign
Prabal Gurung has finally released the latest campaign images and they are absolutely stunning!
For this season, the designer has chosen Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to be the spokesperson of the brand. These shots are done by Daniel Jackson and they look regal, with a dark vibe. Rosie looks like a warrior here, and somehow, I keep associating these images with her upcoming movie Mad Max (release in 2015).
What will also amaze you is that the background you see in each image is actually not photoshopped, it is a physical backdrop created specifically for this campaign. Now my mind is totally blown away!

Walk the Walk: Prabal Gurung F/W 2014 Collection
Prabal Gurung presented his F/W 2014 collection yesterday during New York Fashion Week and it was once again a great show. For this season, he took inspirations from the kingdom of Mustang and that explained a lot why there were a lot of red colour garments. Unlike the previous season, this collection was injected with a sportswear vibe. There were a lot of twists and turns on many of the pieces to create a cool asymmetrical effect. As usual, the final evening gowns were beautiful, which would be some potential options for upcoming red for the celebrities.
Pros:
- The vibe of this collection is very different than the previous season, however, Prabal can still maintain the cool and edgy vibe of her women.
- There are a lot of draping pieces in this collection, but surprisingly, they do not look clumsy at all.
- There is a very nice sportswear touch in this collection, but somehow, you still find her girls to be very elegant.
- I am loving the asymmetrical design on many of the tops and dresses.
Cons:
- The shoes do not really wow me this time.
Eye Candies:
- Red high slit gown with crystal embellishments
- Tribal print shirt dress
- Digital print asymmetrical dress

Walk the Walk: Prabal Gurung S/S 2014 Collection
Prabal Gurung's F/W 2013 collection was all about military and showed the strength of a woman. However, in the S/S 2014 collection, the Prabal lady becomes softer and more feminine.
Marilyn Monroe is the muse for this collection and the clothing pieces are inspired by the 1950s era. In my memory, this collection is probably the most colourful and feminine one to date. I like the silhouette and the embellishments are perfect on most of the pieces. The piece I am most impressed by this collection is the translucent PVC raincoat with the rose print. I think this piece is a great example of classic design meets modern technology.
Overall, this is a stunning collection and definitely is one of my top favourites from New York Fashion Week so far. What do you think?
Pros:
- I absolutely in love with the colour palette of this collection. This is probably the most colourful collection from the designer.
- This collection is very technical, as you can see it from the tweed suit and the PVC raincoat with the rose print.
- The evening series is great and the crystal embellishments are great additions on many of the pieces.
- Can we just look at those amazing prints and be amazed by them?
- I also love the details of this collection, especially the rose buttons.
- The sunglasses are beautiful.
Cons:
- There are a few pieces that remind of me other brands, especially how the print is placed on them.
Eye Candies:
- All the evening dresses
- The blue tweed skirt suit with white rose print
- The rose print translucent PVC raincoat
- Sunglasses

Trendology: Prabal Gurung Resort 2014 Collection
So far, I have seen a lot of the 2014 Resort collections but only few of them have really caught my eyes. Prabal Gurung is one of them.
For this season, Prabal is playing with different patterns. These prints are pretty and they off give a cool and distinct vibe. The cut out design is very interesting as you it adds a rebel vibe to some of these pieces. The colour palette is very summery and I am in love with the accessories, especially the shoes. Everything in this collection is very wearable and I assume you will see a few of those evening pieces on the red carpet in the next few months!

Ray of Inspirology: Prabal Gurung S/S 2013 Campaign
Prabal Gurung's promotion campaign never disappoints me and I believe this one might be the best to date!
This campaign is shot by Daniel Jackson and featured supermodel Joan Smalls. I really like the black and white effect on these images as it makes them look very timeless and iconic. I also love to see Joan Smalls, a good friend of Prabal, as the face for this collection as I think she fits the brand very well. In conclusion, I think these images are breathtaking!

Fashionist[On The Go]: Target x Neiman Marcus x CFDA
There were 2 awesome stories I found on the Fashionist this week! Let's start with this one...
This was such an unexpected news when I first read it. Target and Neiman Marcus are going to work together to create a capsule collection featuring 24 CFDA designers. Some of the brands include Altuzarra, Jason Wu, Rag & Bone, Marc Jacobs, Thom Browne and Rodarte. The collection will be in store and online on December 1! [Read Here]
Lea Michele has shot a new campaign for Candie's and I love it! This is the second campaign she has done for this brand and I really like the bubble gum pop vibe of it. What do you think? [Read Here]

Trendology: Linda Farrow x Prabal Gurung Sunglasses
I love Linda Farrow and Prabal Gurung so when these 2 brands work together to create a capsule collection, I know everything is going to be flawless.
This collection consists of 1 design with 3 different colourways. I am in love with the abstract butterfly design of the frame and the green and purple versions are my favourites. It's chic and fun and I think it is a very nice investment piece. You can look at the other versions here.

Walk the Walk: Prabal Gurung F/W 2012 Collection
It's a lie if I have no expectation from Prabal Gurung's F/W collection since his S/S 2012 collection is still one of my top favourites. Am I disappointed with this collection? Not at all. As a matter of fact, I am more in love with this fashion brand now.
This collection has a few inspirations and they are the oil paintings by Jan van Eyck, the decaying cow skull piece by Georgia O'Keeffe and the blue rose. The title of this collection is "From Hell To Heaven", and to represent this theme, the runway show starts with black pieces and ends with some beautiful white and gold gowns, as if those models are coming from heaven. In between, there are some amazing blue rose print pieces. Of course, you cannot miss out the amazing accessories, especially the cow skull ones. Overall, the whole collection is very modern, bold and you can sense a hint of religious vibe in it.
I am totally in love with this collection, what about you?
Pros:
- I am in love with the accessories. I especially like the decaying cow skull jewellery pieces.
- The blue rose print is so beautiful in this collection.
- The gold abstract print is fantastic!
- Pieces a re very wearable, and there is no doubt some pieces will show up on the red carpet in the near future.
Cons:
- A little overwhelmed by exit no 33 & 35. , I think Gurung might have overdone these pieces.
Eye Candies:
- Blue rose print one piece dress
- Black dress with sheer cut outs at the waist and arms
- White gown with cut outs at the side
- White suit with gold print
- The accessories

Ray of Inspirology: Prabal Gurung S/S 2012 Promotion Campaign
Prabal Gurung is one of my favourite New York based designers and I am excited to see this campaign for his S/S 2012 collection. It is shot by Daniel Jackson and features one of the Victoria's Secret models - Candice Swanepoel. The campaign is very simple, but effective. All three images feature the signature purple pieces from this season. Seriously, how can you not like this campaign when you see that much bending from Candice?

Walk the Walk: Prabal Gurung S/S 2012 Collection
This has to be the best collection in the New York fashion week so far...
Prabal Gurung presented a very beautiful collection with the floral print as the core element. The use of chiffon is simply amazing here and because of the colour palette, many of the pieces look very light and airy. Even though the majority of this collection is very feminine, there are actually few suit pieces that will bring out the bold quality of a woman. I think this is a very cohesive collection and this is probably one of the reason why Sarah Jessica Parker is in love with this brand.
Pros:
- Amazing colour palette and the floral print is so fresh.
- This collection has pieces for everyone, from very feminine dress to very edgy suits
- The collection is very cohesive, big props to the person who edited this collection!
- The ruffle detail is amazing.
- The glasses will be a big hit next season!
Cons:
- Not really feeling the purple lace pants.
- Not a big fan of the ruffle white shirt.
Eye Candies:
- Purple abstract print suit
- Flora gown with chiffon at the bottom
- Black hollow cut gown
- The floral one piece skirt
- Purple gradient one piece dress

Walk the Walk: Prabal Gurung F/W 2011 Collection
Prabal Gurung presented a very solid and nice collection during New York fashion week with 4 stand out colors: red, black, white and fuchsia. The designs are very elegant and the more you look at the collection, the more you feel like you are living in a fairy tale. Some of the eye catchy pieces include the red to white gradient fur coat, red sheer dress and the white jacket with lace detail. What a wonderful collection and I can't wait to see what Prabal has in store for us next season!
Pros:
- Love the color palette.
- The lace enhancement on some of the pieces are great!
- The pieces are very wearable, yet they are also very elegant.
- The black stockings are something to die for.
Cons:
- Not a big fan of the sequin number.

Fashionist[On The Go]: NYFW Madness
As you know New York Fashion Week is probably one of the best weeks in the fashion industry so both Fashionist and this blog have been working hard to bring you the best from all the shows we have seen. Here are some shows I have not talked about but worth the mention!
After 6 years, Tom Ford has decided to launch the womenswear once again. It is a very intimate show which includes a lot of A list celebrities as the models. What makes this show interesting is, there is no photo released for this collection so you will have to use your own imagination to think about the clothes. [Read Here]
On the 2nd last day of NYFW, Marchesa has showcased the S/S 2011 collection at the Chelsea Art Museum. The collection is simply amazing and glamorous and yeah, I expect to see some of them on the red carpet very soon. My favorite will have to be the black to white gown. I can think of one person who can wear it (just ask me) and she will look great in it! [Read Here]
Aside from New York Fashion Week, there is also one ground breaking news in the Toronto fashion industry. For that, you will have to read here. Hint: Philip Sparks! [Read Here]
Do come back next week at 11am to see what I have found from The Fashionist!
