Walk the Walk: Maison Martin Margiela S/S 2015 Haute Couture - ‘Artisanal’ Collection

John Galliano is back, and he has opened a brand new chapter for Maison Martin Margiela!

Yesterday, John Galliano presented the S/S 2015 Haute Couture collection in London, and it was a powerful comeback show. As many of you know, MMM is known for the subtle twist on ordinary clothing, and Galliano is good at creating dramatic pieces. Surprising, when these 2 worlds collide, things become very magical.

This collection has a good balance of both worlds. The deconstruction idea remains and the newly appointed creative director has added his own dramatic flare on the details of the clothing. I love the red trench-dress which has gigantic beads that resemble a face and the 2 clear pockets. This piece alone combines the best of both worlds. I also love the white "wedding" gown which Galliano has reworked the mask to look more evil and raw.

If you are looking for that clean, sleek aesthetic of the brand, then I am sure you are going to be disappointed. However, if you are like me, who thought Margiela was lacking a special flare after the original designer left the house, then you will be in love with this new era!

Object of Desire: Maison Martin Margiela Brown Semigloss Wingtip Dickie Collar

Thanks to the design team behind Maison Martin Margiela, now you can wear a shoe on your neck. Yep, you read this right, you can now wear a deconstructed shoe on your neck.

This neck accessory is from the F/W 2014 collection. The team has created an oversized brogue and deconstructed it into a collar accessory. The concept is refreshing, and I like how the design team continues to push the fashion envelope. Now, can they please create one for the menswear too?

Trendology: Maison Martin Margiela Men's Silver Wolf Pendant Necklace

Maison Martin Margiela always has fun accessories and recently, my eyes are on this puppy!

The pendant is the face of a wolf and is made of brass. It has amazing details and looks very bold. Also, I love the fact that the circular clasp actually has the Margiela branding, and it is always this subtle touch that makes me love this brand more each season.

Trendology: MYKITA x Maison Martin Margiela Sunglasses Collection

Today, MYKITA has released a new collaboration collection, and the fashion brand they work with is Maison Martin Margiela!

This collection consists of 2 big series: Essential and Dual. The Essential pieces are stainless steel frames with minimal designs, whereas the Dual sunglasses each has an identical twin, but in reverse colour combination. Personally I like the Essential pieces a lot because they are simple, and edgy at the same time.

Trendology: Maison Martin Margiela 11 Men's Key Memory Wallet

Once awhile, I will be fascinated by Maison Martin Margiela designs. Why? Simply because the design team will combine 2 simple concepts into one modern design. Here is a good example.

This wallet is from the S/S 2014 pre collection. I like the fact that the key ring is attached to the wallet and there is an embossed key symbol on the front. I think this is a very stylish wallet and at the same time, extremely practical.

Trendology: Maison Martin Margiela Grey Textured Patent-trimmed High-top Sneakers

I am always a fan of Maison Martin Margiela sneakers and today, I came across this one from the latest collection.

I like the red patent leather trim on the sneakers as it adds a kick to the design. Also, it is interesting to see the red "wave" is extended to the bottom of the sneakers and it reminds me a splash of ketchup. I truly believe this will be a fun piece for your F/W season wardrobe.

The collaboration between Cutler and Gross and Maison Martin Margiela is always something I am looking forward to each season and right now, I am falling in love with this piece of eyewear.

I like the "clip" concept of this pair of sunglasses, especially how the lenses are connected by using a lightweight metal frame. It has the Margiela aesthetic as the brand is always trying to give a twist to ordinary items.

Trendology: Maison Martin Margiela Cork Wallet

I am always fascinated by Maison Martin Margiela's accessories because they are always so different. I do have a wallet that is made of wood from this brand, but at this moment, I just want to get this one.

The shell of this wallet is made of cork and the inside is brown leather. I think the materials the Margiela team uses to create this piece is innovative because I rarely see cork is used in menswear accessories. Trendology: Maison Martin Margiela 11 Silver Leather Tote Bag

Tote bag has become one of the biggest accessories for men in these recent years but looking for a great one is always challenging. Lucky for us, Maison Martin Margiela has produced one that is unique and edgy.

This leather tote bag is from the S/S 2013 collection. First of all, I really like the silver colour as it gives an edge to the classic design (and the silver paint is designed to flake off to give off a more organic vibe if you use it often). The bag is big enough to carry a lot of things and I like the optional shoulder strap design (as I am more a messenger bag user).

I am always amazed by Maison Martin Margiela's because most of the time, they are strange and weird (in a good way). This pair of shoes is a good example.

This pair of MMM shoes has a very cool illusion. It is made of leather but with cork grain pattern on it. If I didn't tell you about the leather part, you would believe the cork illusion. Have you ever wondered what's it like to be working at Maison Martin Margiela? Well I have thought about that and luckily, the latest issue of ODDA has a glimpse of what I want to see.

This editorial is shot by Nicolas Valois and the location is the Maison Martin Margiela showroom in Paris. I really like how the entire place is decorated by colour white as it looks very simple and clean. Of course, both models Alexina Graham and Tarik Lakehal are in the MMM F/W 2012 collection and they look stunning. I also secretly want to try out the mask from the Haute Couture collection as I think it might be a fun piece to wear to parties.

If I could, I would definitely wish to work in Maison Martin Margiela headquarters one day. At this moment, I will keep looking at these images to keep my dream alive!

On a side note, I still hope one day I can meet the woman who has a great collection of MMM original pieces in Toronto (She has 2 pieces at the ROM BIG exhibition). Apparently, I almost got to meet her if I was at the Bay earlier that day.

I always have a thing for Maison Martin Margiela's gold sneakers but unfortunately, I can never find the right size for myself. Just moments ago I came across this pair of wingtip brogue and now, it is on my wish list!

If you are a fan of Saskia de Brauw, you will not want to miss out this amazing series!

This editorial is featured in the latest issue of AnOther Magazine and it is shot by Ruth Hogben (from ShowStudio). Saskia looks absolutely stunning in some of the Haute Couture pieces from fashion houses such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Atelier Versace and Maison Martin Margiela. I really like the mood of this shoot as it is very gloomy, which is not the vibe I was expected from a Haute Couture shoot. What do you think?

I guess many of you by now are already getting for the release of the Maison Martin Margiela with H&M collection and today I came across this amazing editorial shot by Björn Jonas (a collaboration with highsnobiety) and I just need to share with you right now.

The 16 images highlight all the accessories in this collection. I like the clean setting with the MMM and H&M logo on the floor. Jonas has successfully captured the aesthetic of the MMM brand and adding the mini props further show the rawness of this brand. The more I look at the images, the more I am attracted to the collection.

I am complete in love with this pair of cuffs!

This piece of accessory is from the latest collection of Maison Martin Margiela. I really like the glass and brass sparkle accents on the cuffs.
