Walk the Walk: Valentino S/S 2016 Haute Couture Collection

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli never fail to amaze the fashion crowd with their Valentino creations. On Wednesday the duo presented the S/S 2016 Haute Couture collection and it was as romantic and elegant as you could imagine.

Spanish designer Mariano Fortuny, dancers Isadora Duncan and Loie Fuller, and French author Marcel Proust are the inspirations for this particular collection. Sheer floor length dresse has become one of the signature looks of this fashion house and this season some of these dresses are combined with colourful velvet fabrics. The craftsmanship is impeccable as a lot of us (including me) are mesmerized by the embroideries, the different usage of velvet, and how some of the dresses (e.g the gold mesh dress) do not require sewing at all. Also, the accessories are very outstanding here as the snake headgear and the body chains are adding an exotic vibe to all the outfits on the runway.

I still don't know how Maria and Pierpaolo can create 6 collections a year for Valentino, but one thing for sure, they never disappoint!

Walk the Walk: Valentino S/S 2016 Collection

The Valentino tribe is back and the girls are as glamorous as you can imagine!

For the S/S 2016 season, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli are bringing back the tribal factor to collection. They take inspirations from Africa and give the tribal elements a modern fashion twist. From the textile to the handbag details, everything is carefully designed to show the reach flavour of the African culture. The Valentino girls are elegant and look like tribal warriors. In general, this collection is the result of the best of Italy meets best of Africa.

Pros:
- The earth tone color palette fits the theme of this collection a lot.
- Love the sleeves design, so colorful with the nice tribal touch.
- The details on the clothes and accessories are impeccable.
- Valentino sheer gowns are always on point. Simply beautiful!

Eye Candies:
- Handbag
- Sheer gown with green and brown accents
- Black beaded gown
- Necklaces

Walk the Walk: Tom Ford S/S 2016 Collection

Unlike other designers, Tom Ford has a different way to present his S/S 2016 collection. It's a short music video.

For this season, Tom Ford teams up with Lady Gaga and Nick Knight to create a 70s Disco vibe video. Lady Gaga covers Nile Rodger's "I want your Love" as the models are dancing on the music floor! The collection continues to be very fun, sexy and my eyes are on those sequin pieces!

I definitely recommend you to check out this video!

Walk the Walk: Maison Margiela S/S 2016 Collection

This is John Galliano's 2nd RTW collection for Maison Margiela and the brand has started to evolve!

This collection is inspired by the 50s and Japanese culture, but of course with a modern twist. The fabric is interesting and I love how Galliano applies crystals, studs and pins on the clothing to create interesting shapes. Margiela's signature white paint is applied on jacket, handbag and shoes and these items sh sell well next season (if they produce them).

A lot of people have doubts on Galliano as the creative director of Maison Margiela. After this collection, I hope some people will change their minds because the brand is starting to take shape again.

Pros:
- The collection combines the 50s and Japanese elements. It has a retro vibe, but the modern fabrics and details are giving the collection a futuristic boost.
- The signature Maison Margiela white paint is applied on some of the pieces and I believe the handbag and shoes will sell well next season.
- I am always a fan of iridescent fabric as it gives a slightly futuristic vibe to the clothing.
- The embroideries in this collection are stunning. Those patterns and animals bring a new energy to the brand.

Eye Candies:
- Blue iridescent skirt with embellishments
- White paint bag
- Green suit
- White paint jacket

Walk the Walk: Prada S/S 2016 Collection

Stripes, patchworks and embellishments fever!

Prada showed the S/S 2016 collection yesterday during Milan Fashion Week and the retro fever lives on with a modern twist. Skirt suit is the default silhouette here and the designer applies different materials such as suede, tweed, organza, snakeskin leather to make these pieces fashion forward. As usual, Prada has created some amazing accessories such as the shoes, earrings and bags. In my personal opinion, that neck piece should be a big hit item next season as it is a bit "strange" but easy to go with many outfits.

After looking at this collection, it looks like Miuccia still has not lost her magical touch on turning normal clothing into something spectacular.

Pros:
- The suits are interesting (slightly boxy and longer). Some of the skirts have asymmetrical cutting.
- The net accessory on the neck will be a hit next season.
- The jackets are nice, especially the stripes ones.
- Love the use of mixed fabrics. Fun combinations!

Eye Candies:
- Shoes
- Earrings
- White, black and green embellishments suit
- Stripes fur coat
- Metallic snakeskin skirt

Walk the Walk: Burberry Prorsum S/S 2016 Collection

You may have seen the pre show on Snapchat on Sunday, and yesterday Christopher Bailey presented the latest Burberry Prorsum collection at London Fashion Week. It was romantic and the clothes were fully functional!

Different types of lace are used in many garments and this kind of material gives off a very feminine vibe. Floral prints continue to play a major role in this season and this element is combined with the military touch to spice up the collection. The silhouettes are simple but they do show the beauty of women flawlessly. Aside from the clothes, I am also in love with the new Belt Bag and the Rucksack will for sure be a big hit next season (honestly, who does not want to have a Burberry Prorsum Rucksack with your initials on it?)!

So what are some of your favourite pieces from this collection?

Pros:
- Love the different kinds of lace. They make collection very feminine.
- The military element adds a slightly bold vibe to some of the pieces.
- The colour palette is good. Even though it is leaning towards the dark spectrum, because of the lace, I can still feel the summery vibe of the collection.
- The Belt bag is interesting, and it's refreshing to see the brand introducing the Rucksack. I might need to get one!
- Every piece is so functional and timeless!

Eye Candies:
- Belt bag
- Black lace trench coat
- Yellow floral lace dress
- Blue floral print dress with sheer panels
- The sandals

Walk the Walk: Proenza Schouler S/S 2016 Collection

The Proenza Schouler boys, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, are on fire right now! Yesterday, they presented yet another great collection at New York Fashion Week.

The designers continue to experiment with the textures and embellishments this season. Dot, in different forms (lace, pom poms, prints), connects everything together in this collection. The silhouettes (especially the drop shoulder design) and colour palette remind people of Spain, but with a fashion forward twist. The entire collection is sexy, elegant and the girls look very confident in those clothes.

Without a doubt, this is one of the most memorable collections in the S/S 2016 New York Fashion Week!

Pros:
- Love the pom pom embellishments on the dress and coats.
- The off the shoulder design makes the girls look very sexy
- I am in love with the silhouettes.
- The colour palette is great. It totally reminds me of Spain.
- I believe the feather dresses will be a hit on the red carpet next season!

Eye Candies:
- White feather dress
- White off the should dress with pom poms embellishments
- Layered dress with black bow
- The metal pom-poms skirt
- White asymmetry vest

Walk the Walk: Calvin Klein Collection Spring 2016 Menswear

Italo Zucchelli's Spring 2016 menswear Calvin Klein Collection titled Graphic Heatwave was showcased live this past Sunday right here on Fusion Of Effects. Myself and Marcus Kan took to twitter as we watched the show. While we have different personal styles, we somehow always find the Calvin Klein Collection a common meeting ground.

As always, Zucchelli's formal tailoring anchored the collection while his experimental tendencies with menswear created an interesting line filled with head turning details.

Colour wise the line featured soft creamy yellow, crisp white, 1970's stone wash, a grey/green we are dubbing "formal army" and of course what would a Calvin Klein Collection show be without some sexy black?

Take away design details include:

1) Palm tree prints inspired by LA artist Ed Ruscha appeared on t-shirts helping to bring a flashy beach vibe to a highly tailored collection.

2) Inspired by the idea of roundness, Zucchelli incorporated extra fabric details around the waist of dress pants for a minimalistic eye catching detail which can easily be worn everyday.

3) Velcro-ed pockets on select pieces can be repositioned to the wearer's desire. We would of course each buy different colours and then swap pockets... because we are like that...

4) Large pant cuffs are clearly making a come back with this collection, but we don't suggest throwing out all your plain hem pants just yet.

5) Stone washed denim look jacquard with 1970's vibe is perfect for cruising around town in your 1973 Camaro.

The must haves:
- Pants with the extra fabric detailing around the waist in any colour.-
- 1970's stone wash jacket.
- White tee with palm tree graphic.
- Any of the perfectly tailored suit jackets.
- Multi pocket bomber length casual jacket in creamy yellow.
