Trendology: COMME des GARCONS Artist Series T-Shirts

Yes to a million!

For this season, Rei Kawakubo has decided to collaborate with some amazing artists to create a capsule collection t shirts. The artists are Andreas Ganther, Ali Mitgutsch, E Boy and Where’s Wally?.  As a fan of graphic design/ illustration, I just cannot take my eyes off those colour shirts! They are now on sale at Dover Street Market.

P.S Now I should really take out the Paul Smith x E Boy from the 2005 season and wear it...

Trendology: Comme Des Garcon Homme Plus Pink Esther Twill Treated Jacket

Admit it, I am addicted to pink lately and I am in love with this jacket!

It is one of the most colourful pieces from Comme Des Garcon Homme Plus S/S 2012 collection and I like the design a lot. The military influence can be seen on the shoulder area and the ripped design has made the jacket very edgy and cool. Of course, the pink colour is completely throwing a lot of people off guard and if you are dare to take this fashion risk, you should definitely invest it immediately.

Trendology: Comme Des Garcons Homme Plus Fishnet Cuff Shirt

I like ordinary clothes with a modern twist, so this Comme Des Garcons shirt just suits my taste. The fancy part of the shirt is the fishnet detail on the sleeves. It's subtle, but definitely shows class. I am not too sure if it will fit me since I always need alteration on the sleeves and if that's the case, perhaps the fishnet part will be chopped off. Well, if you are interested in this piece and know Comme Des Garcons fits your body size perfectly, please click here for more information.

Funkology: Comme des Garcons X Coca Cola

If this is true, then yeah, I will want to all 3 designs!

Ashley has this cool concept and I think it will work. She creates the Comme des Garcons x Coca Cola project and mock up 3 limited edition Coke cans. As always, I am a fan of the PLAY heart so the present of this logo makes the can fun and special. Now, if only this is going to become reality...

What do you think? Do you want to see this in real life?

Walk the Walk: Comme Des Garcon S/S 2012 Collection

This is the white army of the summer!

Comme Des Garcon is all about white this coming season and all I can think of is summer weddings! Every piece is elegant and beautiful, especially some pieces are with floral embellishment. Oversize sleeves is one of the gimmicks of this collection and this element makes me feel like I am living in a fairy tale dream. Every piece here is so whimsical and pretty but the truth is, this collection is definitely not something you will want to wear on the street.

Pros:
- This collection is all about the colour white.
- Every piece is very dreamy, especially with the floral and graffiti elements.
- The oversize sleeves is one of the big gimmicks of this collection.

Cons:
- Quite frankly, this collection is not wearable, but it will be good for editorials.

Eye Candies:
- Oversize sleeves coat with floral embellishment
- Oversize sweater with black and white graffiti
- "Cloud" frame dress

Artology: [ posterism ] Part 2

My good friend Spiros Halaris has finally completed the [ posterism ] series and today it is my honored to show you the last 5 pieces of this series. The brands include for this 2nd part of this project are Chanel, Balenciaga, Maison Martin Margiela, Raf Simons and Comme des Garcons. My favorite one is the Comme des Garcons one as it really shows the gloomy feeling of this season (plus, I think my abstract art mind is acting here as I can see some skulls imagery here). Which one do you like?

If you have missed the first part of this series, you can click here and see the first 5 pieces.

Trendology: PLAY Comme des Garcons x Jack Purcell

I like PLAY Comme des Garcons and Converse's Jack Purcell series, so when I know these 2 lines collaborate, my heart just skipped a beat.

This pair of collaboration shoes is from the latest collection of PLAY Comme des Garcons. The black heart PLAY logo is on the side of the shoe body and also the subtle black stripe at the back. From what I  know, this design will come in both black and white versions. Something to be excited about if you are a Converse and Comme des Garcons fan.

Walk the Walk: Junya Watanabe F/W 2011 Menswear Collection

Focus point of this collection: Jackets and sweaters. This time around, Junya Watanabe is more concentrated on the use of materials for the jackets. I personally is not a big fan of the pattern on Icelandic-knit but after how Junya modified it in his collection, I have become madly in love with those pieces. Overall, a solid and wearable collection.

Pros:
- Great use of mixed materials. Suede + knitwear work very well here.
- Icelandic patterned jacket, this is what everyone should get this coming F/W season.
- The argyle pattern and checkered pattern on the jackets are nice. These patterns bring out the urban feel of this collection.
- I am always a fan of the duffle coats in Junya collections.

Cons:
- I hope this is the last season of the cropped pants.
- It seems like the leather jacket is slightly out of place here.

Eye Candies:
- 2 shads of grey tone sport jacket
- Icleandic patterned jackets (all of them)
- checkered lumberjack jacket

Trenodology: Commes des Garcons Spring 2011

Rei Kawakubo always has something very different every year.  Though playful and stayed with her unique style, this year the collection is rather dark.  She used skull as her main theme and combined it with other graphics - checkerboard, stripe and cut out of clothing that would associate with the old film stripe.  The one and only colour that Kawakubo used for this collection to match with her dark collection is red. It conveys the dark mood even stronger than just pure black.  One different design in this collection is the full dress for men.  The dresses are printed with many alien heads, with different shades of grey to create a different component on the dress.

Trendology: Comme des Garçons Women Fall/Winter 2010 Collecion

Every season, Rei Kawakubo always surprise me with her Comme des Garçons collection. This season is no exception and when I first look at the photos, I feel like this collection is for people who like to sleep because there are so many "pillows" on the clothes!

Kawakubo is doing an experiment again by placing square or irregular shapes pads on different areas of the clothes. The result of this experiment includes strange but pleasant looking trench coats, dresses that look like the inside is vacuumed, and suits that look like they are made of foam (because of the white color). Also, if you look at the shoes, I feel like you will actually float on water if you wear them (is all about day dreaming again). From the photos I have seen so far, I feel like this is a fun collection because they look very bouncy to me but I am not sure how many people will want to wear them on the street. On the other hand, I believe this will be a great collection for performers. I will want to know if Lady GaGa or Rihanna will wear some clothes from this collecion when they perform.
