Dots[Connection]: Queens from the other world

Here is your Draw A Dot. weekly recap!

My final collaboration piece with Nuno Da Costa is here! The Queen of Diamonds is dressed in an outfit from the Proenza Schouler F/W 2015 collection. I love the pose and the outfit just fits perfectly with her image! [Read Here]

Mond Kim created this amazing illustration that is inspired by the Dolce & Gabbana collections. The composition is amazing and it is very surreal with a mysterious vibe! I am still thinking she is the evil version of Snow White. Perfection!   [Read Here]

Walk the Walk: Proenza Schouler S/S 2016 Collection

The Proenza Schouler boys, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, are on fire right now! Yesterday, they presented yet another great collection at New York Fashion Week.

The designers continue to experiment with the textures and embellishments this season. Dot, in different forms (lace, pom poms, prints), connects everything together in this collection. The silhouettes (especially the drop shoulder design) and colour palette remind people of Spain, but with a fashion forward twist. The entire collection is sexy, elegant and the girls look very confident in those clothes.

Without a doubt, this is one of the most memorable collections in the S/S 2016 New York Fashion Week!

Pros:
- Love the pom pom embellishments on the dress and coats.
- The off the shoulder design makes the girls look very sexy
- I am in love with the silhouettes.
- The colour palette is great. It totally reminds me of Spain.
- I believe the feather dresses will be a hit on the red carpet next season!

Eye Candies:
- White feather dress
- White off the should dress with pom poms embellishments
- Layered dress with black bow
- The metal pom-poms skirt
- White asymmetry vest

Walk the Walk: Proenza Schouler F/W 2015 Collection

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez presented Proenza Schouler's F/W 2015 collection on the 2nd last day of New York Fashion Week, and it was all about a gallery opening.

This collection is divided into 2 parts: pieces that are inspired by the works of Helen Frankenthaler (abstract expressionist painter) and Robert Morris (minimalist sculptor), and the garments guests wear to an art gallery opening. The art inspired garments are surprisingly very wearable and fashion forward. The final gown with all the eyelets and fur will be a great cover image of an art magazine. On the other hand, if you are looking for clothes to wear at events, there are plenty of great fur pieces, and you can even pick one of the Robert Morris inspired coats! They are just lovely!

After looking at this collection, there is no doubt Proenza Schouler will be in the fashion scene for a very long time. Congrats on an amazing collection!

Pros:
- The collection is inspired by the gallery opening. It is very interesting to see how Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez  have divided it into 2 parts: the artwork garments and the opening night garments for the guests.
- Really love the Robert Morris inspired pieces, they look very abstract and fashionable.
- The pieces that are inspired by Helen Frankenthaler's dripping artworks are very modern and artistic.
- In love with the final pieces, they are wearable artworks. They also make me think Jack and Lazaro have created their own New York tribe.

Cons:
- Still not too sure about the footwear in this collection.

Eye Candies:
- The final gallery dress
- The grey tweed coat with wide width belt
- Helen Frankenthaler inspired off shoulder dress
- Robert Morris inspired abstract long coat

Walk the Walk: Proenza Schouler F/W 2013 Collection

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez presented a very strong F/W 2013 collection yesterday night in New York and till this moment, I am still digesting some of the looks.

For this coming season, Proenza Schouler girl is going back to the black and white route. However, this does not mean boring at all. In fact, the duo has created some of the strongest designs to date. I am completely in love with the round coats and the abstract print laser cut pieces. There are a few long chains pieces which I think will work very well on the red carpet. Of course, if you are obsessed with shoes, you will not want to miss out those laser cut heels in this collection.

In my opinion, this is one of the strongest collections I have seen in this season's New York Fashion Week. If this collection were shown in Paris Fashion Week, I have a good feeling the price tag of each piece would be more than what it is right now. Are Jack and Lazaro trying to hint they want to show at Paris Fashion Week in the future? I certainly hope so.

You can now pre order the lunch bag at Proenza Schouler official website.

Pros:
- Even though the colour palette is mainly about black and white, the collection is not boring at all.
- I really like the round coat design, it is very modern and stylish.
- The long chains pieces will be a big hit on the red carpet.
- I have to admit, I am amazed by the laser cut technology in this collection. Fascinating!
- How can you not love the tweed bouclé jackets and skirts? They are made of black and white leather strips!

Cons:
- None

Eye Candies:
- The round coats
- The long chains dress
- The laser cut dress suit
- The laser cut heels

Wave of Inspirology: Electric Holiday at Barneys New York

I have been hoping this kind of collaboration will happen in real life and it's finally here! After months of promotion, the Barneys New York holiday video is finally unveiled today!

As you may know, this short animation is a collaboration between Disney and Barneys New York. Minnie Mouse is the center of this story line and the story is about Minnie looking at a Lanvin dress and dreams about walking on the runway in Paris. A lot of fashion celebrities such as Anna Dello Russo, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga and Bryan Boy make a guest appearance in this animation.

If you want to know what is each Disney character wearing in this video, here is the list:

Minnie Mouse - Lanvin (Alber Elbaz)
Mickey Mouse - Balenciaga (Nicolas Ghesquiere)
Goofy - Balmain (Olivier Rousteing)
Daisy Duck - Dolce & Gabbana
Snow White - Nina Ricci (Peter Copping)
Cruella de Vil - Rick Owens
Tiana - Proenza Schouler

Also, don't miss out the Electric Holiday collection as 25% of the sales wil lgo to the American Red Cross disaster relief.

Trendology: Proenza Schouler Large Chieko Bag

While I am still digesting the Proenza Schouler F/W collection, there is one accessory from the show that has caught my attention.

This clutch is made of deer fur and navy nylon. I really like the white spots on the deer fur and it has made this simple design to look elegant and modern. As of this moment, you can pre order it and wait for it to your doorstep by mid October.

Trendology: Proenza Schouler Exclusive Fish Print Tote

Bags from Proenza Schouler have always been timeless and stylish. Their single colour design is probably an essential element for the brand.  Yet, they came up with something fun and wild once in awhile.  This Fish Print Tote is one of them.  The signature leather straps stayed, but the black (or single colour) leather is replaced by a yellow/blue fish print.  The print gave an exotic mood to the bag instantly; though the pattern is somewhat complicated, but it certain adds a touch of styling to your outfit.

Item is available through Proenza Schouler for USD$325.  A matching wallet is also available for USD$125.
