Trendology: Valentino Resort 2013 Collection

This collection is beyond beautiful!

Floral lace is always a strong element in the Valentino empire and under the hands of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, this element has a new modern life. Neon colour palette has dominated this resort collection and I am fascinated by the neon colour floral lace. The 60's feminine silhouette makes the Valentino girl look so beautiful. Out of all the pieces, the one that has completely captured my heart is the black tulle gown with the leather bodice, I just cannot stop looking at it!

If this is a preview of the S/S collection, then consider I am already excited for the September show!

Trendology: Christian Dior Resort 2013 Collection

This is Bill Gaytten last collection for Christian Dior and to be honest, I actually like it a lot.

Gaytten continues to take the minimalist approach to design the pieces which a little couture twist on them. The hour glass silhouette continues to make the Dior ladies to look elegant and sexy. The burst of orange and red are what make the collection refreshing and I am also in love with the black leather peplum blouse.

S/S 2013 will be a brand new era for Christian Dior as Raf Simons will take over the creative director spot. I wonder what Simons will have in store for us in September. Better yet, what will he bring to the brand for the Haute Couture collection in July?

Trendology: Altuzarra Resort 2013 Collection

Joseph Altuzarra excites me again with a solid collection!

This collection consists of 2 major elements: safari and gypsy. There are couture elements on some of the pieces which make the Altuzarra lady to look elegant. I also like the use of the elastic belt, which helps to give an illusion of a one piece dress into 2 pieces ensemble. Lastly, the tribal prints are pretty in this collection. I am sure a lot of girls will be drooling over this collection when it hits store early next year.

Trendology: Alexander McQueen Resort 2013 Collection

Sarah Burton is at it again and this time she is injecting a macular element to the womenswear for the resort collection! The tailoring is much sharper than her previous collections as the brand's creative director. Throughout the 28 looks, there are many suits with pants, which make the McQueen lady to look bold, sexy and chic (and if you know me in person, I always tell people ladies in suits are very sexy and elegant). I am also surprised by the use of art deco patterns as I would never have thought this element would fit the brand so well.

I am fairly certain that the dragonflies pattern gown will eventually show up on the red carpet very soon.

P.S: This collection is also inspired by David Bowie and you can read it here for more information.

Trendology: Versace Resort 2013 Collection

It's all about bright colours for the Versace Resort 2013 collection!

There are 2 parts in this collection: the colourful daywear pieces and the all black evening-wear pieces. For the daywear, I really like the selection as there is something for everyone. The hot pink suit looks so good on the model and I do encourage ladies to wear more suits in the future (trust me, they will look sexy on you). As for the evening-wear, after the Angelina high-slit gown in the Oscar, Donatella decides to make one for the resort collection as well. I have a good feeling girls will want that particular gown in their closet.

Trendology: Louis Vuitton Resort 2013 Collection

Julie de Libran is taking us back to the 1970s era with this Louis Vuitton resort collection.

I am always a fan of the LV leopard print and luckily, this collection Julie has incorporated this element on some pieces. The colour palette is very refreshing as most of the colours are very light, which suit the resort period very well. The silhouette of most of the pieces is tend to be very loose fit, especially the appearance of the flare pants and cropped pants. Of course, the sequin number is one of the most outstanding pieces from this collection. What do you think?

Trendology: Dion Lee Resort 2013 Collection

Dion Lee is one of the uprising designers in the fashion industry right now and honestly, this resort collection really shows his talented skills.

Generally, this collection is very sporty and I really like the colour palette. What really attracts me is the laser cut on some of the pieces and also the fractal arts on the gowns. These pieces are not ordinary but they are completely wearable. This collection really excites me and I am looking forward to see what Dion has in store for us in September with his S/S 2013 collection!

Trendology: Missioni Resort 2013 Collection

How can you turn Chinese porcelain and British pottery into clothing? Well, you can ask Angela Missioni about it.

For this resort collection, Angela Missioni is inspired by the Chinese porcelain and British pottery, therefore, you can see the colour palette is leaning towards the earthy tone with a splash of blue and white. Aside from the signature zigzag pattern, this collection also consists of dots, geometric shapes and abstract patterns. I find that these patterns have made the collection youthful and fun to wear. At this moment, I wish spring 2013 can come sooner so I can see some girls wearing this collection!

Trendology: Thom Browne Resort 2013 Collection

Thom Browne has recently become one of my favourite designers (thanks to the Black Fleece purchase) and this resort collection is unbelievable wearable. Browne continues to have his signature school uniform jacket, but in whale or crayon prints. I also like one of the jacket designs with huge triangular collars. Of course, if you like the dramatic factor,  madras sun hat will be your must buy. I honestly am not too sure how you can walk on the street wearing it without hitting people around you.

What do you think? Do you have anything you want?

Trendology: Givenchy Resort 2013 Collection

Will Riccardo ever disappoint his Givenchy fans? No, not at all.

For this resort collection, it seems like Riccardo is taking inspiration the tribes. Well tribal print is not new to the industry but how he applies these prints on the bohemian style clothing is what made this collection special. There is still a very strong urban vibe in this collection and how can the girls resist those sandals?

Trendology: Balenciaga Resort 2013 Collection

Cristobal Balenciaga made costumes for a ballet performance of Ravel's Boléro in the 1930's and this has become the inspiration for this Balenciaga resort collection. I really like the soft colour palette and also the silhouettes are very feminine, yet modern. One item that has particularly stuck in my mind is the orange/pastel purple gladiator sandals and I am sure this will become a hit next season!

Trendology: Lanvin Resort 2013 Collection

It's hard not to fall in love with Lanvin, especially when Alber Elbaz can create clothes to make the ladies classy, elegant, and sporty (you read this right, sporty is the word).

There are 2 categories in this resort collection, the loose fit and the tailor fit. For the loose fit category, I am especially in love with the emerald green "pyjama" suit, as it is very sporty and fun to wear. For the tailor fit category, I am in love with the black skirt suit. Of course, how can you not love the metallic numbers and I find them to be refreshing. The accessories are also something that have caught my eyes. Overall, this is a very solid resort collection.

Trendology: Just Cavalli Resort 2013 Collection

So far, other than Chanel and Balenciaga, Just Cavalli is the other brand that has caught my attention with its resort collection.

Cavalli continues to use bold animals prints for this collection and other than that, plant prints (Venus flytraps and "Garden of Eden" palms) are also introduced to some of the pieces. However, if you are not a fan of the prints, there is also a white series which captures my heart with the "crack" design on some of the pieces.

Overall, this is a very refreshing collection.

Trendology: Burberry Prorsum Pre Spring 2013 Collection

Burberry Prorsum Pre-spring 2013 is more like a continuation of the F/W 2012 collection. For the menswear, there are a lot of well fitted suits to make a man stay neat and classy. There are also a few amazing bomber jackets which have captured my heart. Also, expect the scarf will be a bit accessory hit this coming season.

As for the womenswear, once again the trench coats are breathtaking. Pants and skirts with the gathered waist design have been seen throughout this look book. Also, how can you not like those gowns? They simply look elegant and classy!

Based on this pre-spring collection, I have a good feeling Spring/Summer 2013 collection will be very classy and well tailored.
