Walk the Walk: Louis Vuitton F/W 2014 Collection

Today marked a brand new page for Louis Vuitton, as Nicolas Ghesquière debuted his first LV collection in Paris. The LV girls in the first chapter of this new era were bolder, edgier and more powerful. Ghesquière created many completely wearable pieces, with a nice twist. Some of the examples were the knit skirt with feather panels, and the asymmetrical leather/ tweed dress. Petite Malle bag was introduced in this show and it was a mini LV trunk.

As a first collection, Nicolas Ghesquière did a very good job on creating the new LV girl. I believe this was just a warm up for the designer. The best is yet to come.

Pros:
- This collection opens a brand new page for Louis Vuitton, as the aesthetic of this collection is very different from the Marc Jacobs' era. The LV girls are bolder, edgier and more powerful.
- The big pocket on the skirt is a very nice design
- There are a a lot of metal accents in this collection, which is one of Nicolas' design signatures.
- I quite like the Petite Malle bag. It's a fun accessory piece.
- The boots and belts will be something nice to have next season.
- So glad to see Freja Beha Erichsen back on the runway! You have no idea how much I missed her!

Cons:
- There are actually a lot of ideas going on in this collection, maybe this is just a way for the designer to show the audience what kind of energy he is planning to inject to this fashion label.

Eye Candies:
- Wide collar leather coat
- Sweater with patchwork
- Knit skirt with feather panels
- Floral dress
- The shoes

Wave of Inspirology: Electric Holiday at Barneys New York

I have been hoping this kind of collaboration will happen in real life and it's finally here! After months of promotion, the Barneys New York holiday video is finally unveiled today!

As you may know, this short animation is a collaboration between Disney and Barneys New York. Minnie Mouse is the center of this story line and the story is about Minnie looking at a Lanvin dress and dreams about walking on the runway in Paris. A lot of fashion celebrities such as Anna Dello Russo, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga and Bryan Boy make a guest appearance in this animation.

If you want to know what is each Disney character wearing in this video, here is the list:

Minnie Mouse - Lanvin (Alber Elbaz)
Mickey Mouse - Balenciaga (Nicolas Ghesquiere)
Goofy - Balmain (Olivier Rousteing)
Daisy Duck - Dolce & Gabbana
Snow White - Nina Ricci (Peter Copping)
Cruella de Vil - Rick Owens
Tiana - Proenza Schouler

Also, don't miss out the Electric Holiday collection as 25% of the sales wil lgo to the American Red Cross disaster relief.

Trendology: Balenciaga Resort 2013 Collection

Cristobal Balenciaga made costumes for a ballet performance of Ravel's Boléro in the 1930's and this has become the inspiration for this Balenciaga resort collection. I really like the soft colour palette and also the silhouettes are very feminine, yet modern. One item that has particularly stuck in my mind is the orange/pastel purple gladiator sandals and I am sure this will become a hit next season!
