Dots[Connection]: Moonlight & Koi

Here is your weekly Draw A Dot. recap!

George V. Antoniou has recently created a new series and I am loving all the pieces! The illustrations are very surreal and he dresses some of the celebrities in Haute Couture pieces! Below is just one of the stunning pieces! [Read Here]

I am a fan of jiiakuann's works and this Miu Miu Pre-Fall 2016 illustration is simply wonderful! It is surreal and reminds me of the traditional Chinese art. I can't wait to see more stunning pieces from this talented artist in the near future!  [Read Here]

Picture Perfect: Miu Miu Pre-Fall 2015 Campaign

Ever since I started to do photography again, I have been looking at a lot of fashion product photos in different campaigns for inspirations. Recently I came across this latest campaign from Miu Miu.

This latest campaign is shot by Jamie Hawkesworth, and it features Estella Boersma in many of the shots (which I will not talk about, because I am more attracted to Jamie's product shots). The composition in each photo is great, and really brings out the urban vibe of the brand. I must admit, it's the warmth tone that really attracts me to look at these photos.

What do you think?

Picture Perfect: Miu Miu S/S 2015 Campaign

Miuccia Prada has once again handpicked a few upraising actresses to star in the latest Miu Miu campaign.

The photos are shot by Steven Meisel and the new faces are Mia Goth, Imogen Poots and Marine Vacth. I like the composition of the photos a lot as I feel like I am peeking into the rooms to learn about the personality of each Miu Miu girl.

Here is the description of the campaign from the fashion house.

“Each scene is a chance encounter, independent but linked, dramatically connecting the characters’ stories. Each actress plays a role, and looking in on them, we see the collection as the narrative force of the story, and the true power of fashion as a communicator of fresh ideas and ideologies.”

Dots[Connection]: Contrast

Here is your weekly Draw A Dot. recap!

I love Artaksiniya's works and this one is probably one of her most colourful ones to date! This illustration is inspired by the Miu Miu S/S 2015 collection, and at this moment, I am still thinking what is going on on the left side of the image (the hand is holding a woman)!  [Read Here]

Secretly, I have been a fan of Sam Shan's works for quite some time now. I finally have the chance to connect with him recently, and his illustrated characters are so whimsical and likeable. The one below is definitely one of my favourites. [Read Here]

Picture Perfect: Miu Miu Resort 2015 Campaign

Miu Miu's latest campaign is beautiful. It combines nature and fashion together to give the fans a different prospective on the brand.

The photos are shot by Jamie Hawkesworth, and feature Natalie Westling as the face of the brand. The model shots are very simple, but when they are paired up with the nature shots, this combination immediately creates magic! I love the nature shots a lot, as they create contrast against the model shots. I believe if Miu Miu is going to have a coffee table book in the future, this series will definitely be included in it.

Ray of Inspirology: Miu Miu S/S 2014 Campaign

From Lady Gaga to Nicole Kidman, Rihanna to Miley Cryus,  it seems like the fashion brands are all locking down the celebrities to be the faces of their S/S 2014 campaigns. Few days ago, Miu Miu released the new campaign and it involved 4 of the hottest actresses in the world.

Elle Fanning

These shot are done by Inez & Vinoodh and the cast includes Elle Fanning, Elizabeth Olsen, Lupita Nyong'o and Bella Heathcote. The photography duo captures the youthful vibe of this collection flawlessly and I like the composition of each image a lot.

Now I am very curious if Miuccia will continue to expand the celebrity roster for her next Miu Miu campaign. For that, we will have the answer by July 2014.

Wave of Inspirology: Miu Miu F/W 2013 Video Campaign

I am a huge fan of the F/W 2013 Miu Miu collection and in July, the brand has released the latest campaign. Below is the video campaign of the collection.

The video is directed by Inez & Vinoodh and it features Adriana Lima, Anne Verhallen, Daphne Groeneveld, Emily DiDonato, Georgia May Jagger, Hind Sahli, Katlin Aas, Lindsey Wixson,  and Marina Nery. In here, you see the girls are having so much fun dancing with one another and the song ("Hand Clapping Song", performed by The Meters) really helps to get us into the mood.

With great models and great outfits, I don't think you can take your eyes off this video easily, as I have clicked the replay button many times already!

Ray of Inspirology: Karlie Kloss for Vogue Australia May 2013

Many people are looking forward to see The Great Gatsby and recently, Vogue Australia has done a shoot with Karlie Kloss in some of the movie's costumes.

The series is shot by Arthur Elgort and these Great Gatsby's outfits are all from Prada and Miu Miu. If you find some of the outfits to be familiar, it's because some of them are actually inspired by the Prada S/S 2011 and F/W 2011 collections. After seeing these images, I just wish May can come sooner!

Walk the Walk: Miu Miu F/W 2013 Collection

Zipper. Polka dot. Metallic shoes.

Miu Miu's F/W collection was wonderful! The major element here was the zipper and it was great to see how Miuccia and her team could come up with that many designs. Aside from the clothes, the metallic shoes were beautiful as well. In order to complete the beautiful Miu Miu F/W 2013 look, all girls would hav to tie a polka dots scarf on her neck to show the fun attitude.

This collection is completely fashionable and practical. I will not be surprised to see people wearing these pieces on the street next season since they are simply street style chic!

Pros:
- Zipper is the major element in this collection. I love how Miuccia can create so many looks with this particular element.
- One of the silhouettes I have been seeing a lot in this collection is the "Y shape". The wide shoulder design injects boldness to the Miu Miu girl.
- I love the polka dots scarves, and also all the metallic shoes. They are amazing!
- A very cohesive collection, I especially like the colour palette.

Cons:
- I am not really feeling the oversized pink bag. It's fun for editorial but I doubt someone will want to carry it out for everyday use.

Eye Candies:
- The polka dots scarves
- Metallic shoes
- Navy parka jacket
- Yellow polka dots zipper dress
- Zipper bodice

Store[opening]: Miu Miu at Holt Renfrew

Miu Miu has finally arrived to Toronto and it's exciting to know it will be inside the Holt Renfrew department store on Bloor.

This corner shop is designed by Architect Roberto Baciocchi and as you can see from the photos, it is all about bags and accessories collections. What you cannot see here is the storefront, which is "characterized by its damaks finish [and] covered in crystal and studs".

I really like the interior design of this store as it has damask curtain walls and mat gold counters. This design really shows the aesthetic of the brand: it's very classy and modern.

I do recommend you to head to this Miu Miu store soon as I always know their accessories and bags are in high demands. I really hope one day they can come back with some men's accessories as well!

Ray of Inspirology: Miu Miu S/S 2013 Campaign

This is one of the campaigns I can probably stare at it all day long without feeling bored.

The new Miu Miu S/S 2013 campaign is shot by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and the models are Malgosia Bela, Bette Franke, Martha Hunt, Doutzen Kroes, Adriana Lima, Arizona Muse, and Tamara Weijenberg. Red is the main colour of this series and Inez & Vinoodh can use this colour cleverly to create a very dark mood. It also helps to make the clothes stand out. Composition is flawless here and each image gives you unlimited imagination on the lives of the Miu Miu girls.

After looking at the images, I can safely say this is one of the strongest Miu Miu campaigns I have ever seen.

Graphicology: Fashion Illustrations by Jiiakuann

Another day, another amazing talent.

Alexander McQueen S/S 2012

Jiiakuann is a very innovative illustrator. Her works are pretty abstract, and at the same time, remind you of some classic paintings. I think the most brilliant part of her works is the use of fashion element. She really understands the vibe of each collection so when you look the piece, it tends to show you the mood board of that particular season's collection.

At this moment, I am really looking forward to seeing S/S 2013 works from her and at the same time, I have a very good feeling her style will continue to evolve. What do you think?

Wave of Inspirology: Miu Miu F/W Video Campaign

When I first watched this Miu Miu video, I felt like there was something familiar to me and...

As you know, Chloë Sevigny is the face of the Miu Miu F/W collection and now you can take a behind the scene look of this campaign. I actually like the editing of this video a lot and seeing Chloë in action is completely different than seeing her on prints.

The thing I find very familiar in this video is the music! It's actually the runway song for Breeyn McCarney's Vessel collection. Coincident? I really don't know.

Ray of Inspirology: Miu Miu F/W 2012 Promotion Campaign

Now I understand why Chloë Sevigny was wearing that mirror dress at the MET Gala...

The new Miu Miu campaign is out and Chloë Sevigny has become the face of this season's collection. Photos are shot by Mert & Marcus and I think they have successfully shown the rock and roll vibe of this collection. I would like to see more photos from this campaign to see if the mirror dress will make an appearance.

Ray of Inspirology: Miu Miu S/S 2012 Promotion Campaign

The star effects is here again. For this season, Mia Wasikowska (best known for her role in Alice in Wonderland) has become the face of the new Miu Miu campaign. It is shot by David Sims and it seems like Miuccia wants a more simple approach this time around. The portrait style really makes the images to look elegant and classy. That yellow backdrop and the clothes create a huge contrast which helps the viewers to focus on the collection. I really like it, do you?

Wave of Inspiration: Muta

Miu Miu continues the Women's Tales series with this short film directed by Lucrecia Martel. The clothes in this film are from the F/W 2011 collection and I think they fit the setting very well. The film has a very vintage, retro vibe and the robotic gestures from the models are making the whole storyline very mysterious. Even though I cannot say I understand the story fully but somehow I have to admit, it is very addictive. Do take a few minutes to check this video out when you have time.

Trendology: Miu Miu lace-up cutout boots

The pink and the bows have been the signature designs of Miu Miu.  As Miuccia twisted this feminine design to pop art in the 60's, rocked the runway with shocking colours and patterns, she also gave a good spark in many ladies' closets, adding these shocking colours to our everyday outfit.  And maybe add a touch of 'superwoman' element in our lives too!

Trendology: Miu Miu Valentine's Day Capsule Collection

It's Valentine's Day and this Valentine's Day Capsule Collection by Miu Miu is the best gift for the girls.  All the items are in red and navy patent, ruffle edges details and bows.  This year they added a new touch to the collection, the flower applique jewellery, which make the collection even more girly.  Yet, I can't miss mentioning about the Miu Miu first ever ipad and ipod cases is also included in this collection!

Wave of Inspiration: The Powder Room

How to blend arts and fashion together? I will leave this question for Miuccia to answer it.

For the latest Miu Miu S/S 2011 campaign, the company has invited a few female directors to direct some mini films which is called "The MiuMiu Women’s Tales". The first mini movie of the series is directed by  Zoe Cassavetes and it is called "The Powder Room". The movie is all about the ladies doing their things in the powder room and I find it very interesting. What do you think?

Ray of Inspirology: Miu Miu S/S 2011 Promotion Campaign

Last season, Miu Miu was all about floral barbie girls, and for this season, it is all about retro electro girls.

Here are the first 2 photos for the S/S 2011 campaign. Kasia Struss is one of the models to be featured in this campaign and once again, this series is shot by Mert & Marcus. I really love the mirror and red tone concept for this shoot. This combination has created a very edgy retro vibe for the photos and clothes. Even though I am not a big fan of this season's collection, but after seeing the photos, I finally understand Miuccia's intention for this season. I am looking forward to see more photos from this campaign.
